Decided to throw caution to the wind and give this one a fantastic. Bet there are a lot of parents out there cursing the BBC right now. Y'know it's gonna be a damn shame if 'Britains Got Talent' or whatever the fook that things called sucks away a big chuink of tonights audience as predicted. Boy talk about missing out.

Creepiest bit for me was the walking skeleton in the spacesuit. But then I love zombies, walking dead, and that sort of thing anyway.

I'm really not seeing the whole 'It's Jenny' thing everyones commenting on. Its waaaaay too early to be bringing her back. And wasn't the decision to let her live sort of a last minute decision anyway? Willing to bet the Moff has plans of his own for her. Nope to me its quite obvious she's a companion he hasn't met yet. A bit like Mel and the 6th Doctor.

Anyway, not really much to say this time around. A nice mix of comedy, tragedy, and terror. Can't wait til next week!

And to think...you guys were worried! :guffaw:

Can't help it. Seasons over halfway over and we've yet to have a clunker. I'm just waiting for the Moff to run out of genius. Mans not human I tell ya.

Now I'm off to read Fear Factor over on the BBC website.

OK - unless the doctor has been fucking his own daughter, there is no way on other that subtext was suppose to be suggesting "I'm your daughter".

Also If Alex Kingston looked black to you - I suggest you get better quality downloads or get your eyes tested!

Gee and I thought we got it cleared up. Fine, I guess I deserve to be pounded on for ignorance.

As for the subtext, where the hell did that come from. I didn't see a "Whose fu**ing who subtext between the two of them. Also, what makes you all think it's the wife? We're just speculating given the context we are dealt. I'm trying not to add anything other than that.

I never mentioned her being his wife so I have no idea why you are asking me that....

I was asking that as a general question. :)

she calls him "sweetie" not a term a daughter would use with her father....
True. I wonder if this woman is anything to do with Rose. There have been a lot of references to Rose this season with her coming back and all and maybe this was someone who knew the doctor because she worked for Torchwood or something with Rose? As for the whole sweetie thing, well, Torchwood does like the Doctor and Rose and the Doctor did have a realationship. I don't know, just tossing out another speculation since I really hope it's not a personal relationship to him.

anyone who thought River was Jenny needs to go and get their brains checked out.

it's quite clear that she's some love interest from his subjective future.

and how the hell can anyone think Alex Kingston's black when she's a ginger?!

Who voted poor? Seriously?

If you click the numbers in the poll the names will be revealed since this is a public poll. Ignore this if that was just a rhetoric.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Meredith, you're just being silly, and you'll want to change it when you see it. As for the other who votted poor, it's weird, I can't see what they've posted since 5/5.

Of course not Jenny.

But this is the second time a message has arrived earlier than intended.

Martha got the Doctor relative to herself she intended?

51st century. That's where Jack is from. message received on Psychic paper is how the face of Bo contacted the Doctor back in season two well up stream from when this is happening. More Jack.

Interesting :)

anyone else think that Doctor Who: Confidential, was the "this is why we picked Moffat to take over from RTDs" show this week?
On the podcast Phil Colinson and Euros Lyn have a discussion about the difference in writing styles between RTD and Steven Moffat. And Euros says something like "Russell was supposed to be here tonight, but this is the week Russell announced he's stepping down, so he's at home sulking."

Watching it again, just noticed something: Prof River Song says "Hello sweetie" to the Doctor. Later, the little girl says "Donna Noble has been saved" and her Dad says "Sweetie?" Hmm, could be a point. Watch out for it.

I also anticipate an end scene:

Song: "Doctor, I'm dying, tell me you love me"
Doctor: "I can't. I'm so, so sorry."
Song dies.
Doctor: "Noooooo!"

That was FRAKKIN excellent. We get a true Who cliffhanger at the end there. Donna's in peril, that skull dude bearing down on them.

Who is River Song? I totally wasn't expecting this angle. And what the hell is going on with the little girl... I figure she's a personification of the Central Computer or this CAL or something.

I was totally hooked on this ep, this is without a doubt the best ep so far. Roll on next week.

Did anyone see the toy robot behind the little girl? Was it just me or did it look a lot like the robot from Lost in Space.

It's Robby The Robot from Forbidden Planet - I think it's the Polar Lights model kit of him

That River Song is actually a future regeneration of The Doctor?

No.

The Doctor's Wife

I don't think she's his future regeneration (and why are people putting speculation in spoiler text - it's a guess not a spoiler) because she talks about how they met and is this the point in his timeline where they've met. A future regeneration wouldn't expect them to have a ongoing relationship plus of course you'd have to ignore the klaxon like way they make it clear in the sub-text that they have a relationship...

Oh, anyone else spot the tiny oblique reference to Rose?

??? Enlighten me

I presume he's refering to one of the girl's paintings on the wall of her home - a blonde woman, probably Rose.
Nope. It was a dialogue reference.

When Professor Song used the sonic disruptor to open a hole in the wall, the Doctor exclaimed "Squareness gun!", which, if you remember, was how Rose referred to the device in "The Doctor Dances", where Captain Jack had one.

See - told you it was oblique :).

I think people are using spoiler code as some of it isn't speculation, it's reporting what's been printed in newspapers by writers who seem to have seen preview discs.

BTW - if the actress who played the girl controlling the library was (I guess) 10 years older (or if the HP films were made ~10 years later), she would BE Ginny. Thoughts?

There's a painting of a (bad?) wolf right under the painting of the blonde girl... A more likely Rose ref.

Overnight ratings are in, and alas Britain's Got Talent took a big chunk out of the show's audience. 5.4 million viewers (a series low), 25.4% share (ditto), and 28th for the week so far (still a new low). And for the first time in the new series, it didn't win its timeslot.

Still, with this year's higher-than-usual timeshift it'll probably escape having the lowest final ratings ever, and BGT's out of the way now. Things can only go up...
