Am I misreading the post, or do you (Tomalak) think River Song is black? 'Cos, whatever effect lighting and make-up might have, Alex Kingston isn't, you know... (check out several seasons of ER for brighter lit images).
ok I just did a google image search and you are right, her skin isnt even that dark, yet in the episode she seems like she is mixed race.

looked at the pics on the BBC she seems darker in the episode screenshots, than the publicity pictures.

Lastly, this is probably just me because I just finished watching Life on Mars, but was anyone else reminded of Sam
yes that came to my mind as well, not just because of the phone, but also the question of reality, in life on mars Sam is either in a coma fantasy or the real world, in this theDoctor is either in the real world, or in a young girls dream.

the old fashioned ring tone used on the phone, how could it not remind you of Life on Mars.

The I am great happy to pass on her, so you can sleep with her, without killing me.

The episode blew my mind.

If David Lynch ever wrote an episode of Doctor Who... I think this one approaches that sort of artistic nirvana.

-The first thought I had was that Riversong was the Doctor's Daughter, but Jenny is white and this person is black.
that doesnt make it impossible, and no this is not me looking to restart the "can we have a black Doctor" debate.

as for this Doctors Wife thing, I hope that isnt true sounds awful. Maybe she is a future companion who is just very flirty.

She looked black, or at least brownish. I don't know who the actress is, so I only have what I saw in this episode to fall back on.

Ok, so she's white. She could be the daughter. Still, at first watch she did look brown but of course the lights were either off or dimmed.

Couldn't give it any less than fantastic. The plot flew along briskly. The ghosting of the girl was moving. The skull in the helmet was a classic SF motif. Dr Riversong is a complete mystery, but man, she must love the Doctor to have a diary that looks like the TARDIS, and the light comedic touch that the Doctor, like us, wants to 'read ahead'. The idea of the vashtanarada is pretty good, in a 'Blink' kind of way. What ois Donna's fate, not so much now, but at series end??? I'd like to point out, to the Tate naysayers from last year especially, could any of us imagined how much we'd end up having invested in her?

Keeping in mind that RTD generates story ideas that are then handed off to other writers, I'd like to add that this is the position Moffatt will ne in when he takes over as EP.

That alone makes me go "wow!"

OK - unless the doctor has been fucking his own daughter, there is no way on other that subtext was suppose to be suggesting "I'm your daughter".

Also If Alex Kingston looked black to you - I suggest you get better quality downloads or get your eyes tested!

Not if I kill you first. ;)

Then I hope your regeneration cycle is full, hologram boy...

Does Moffat hate children?
There's not a single episode that he doesn't turn ordinary things into absolutely terrifying objects. Statues, shadows, mummys.

FANTASTIC.

You stole my comment! Though I wouldn't have had that wonderful prefacing statement. :)

At the risk of raising expectations too high - could a Moffatt run Who possibly have the potential to be the best TV show ever made?

Guess we will find out in two years, have to make a note to start driving safely...

I'd sure like to find out. Can't wait, he just writes my kind of stories. So much to chew on.

I really like where they've gone with Donna Noble, she's been living up to her name and her humane nature is a nice counterpoint to the Doctor's no nonsense manner. His "sorry, so sorry" is beginning to get like a cruel send-off than any sense of compassion.

As to Alex Kingston, I too thought (before it became obvious that she was not) that she might be the doctor's daughter, though I thought maybe she had regenerated by now. FWIW, I have seen her ethnicity questioned before so this isn't the first time people have wondered about that, though for my theory it wouldn't have mattered if she was. I liked her in ER and it's great to see her looking good on Doctor Who.

Gee and I thought we got it cleared up. Fine, I guess I deserve to be pounded on for ignorance.

As for the subtext, where the hell did that come from. I didn't see a "Whose fu**ing who subtext between the two of them. Also, what makes you all think it's the wife? We're just speculating given the context we are dealt. I'm trying not to add anything other than that.

I never mentioned her being his wife so I have no idea why you are asking me that....

she calls him "sweetie" not a term a daughter would use with her father....

Hearing tidbits of future adventures for The Doctor. Did River say Asgard?

Yes I suppose later the Doctor ends up in the Stargate universe and end up on an adventure with Thor the alien Asgard.

Who voted poor? Seriously?

If you click the numbers in the poll the names will be revealed since this is a public poll. Ignore this if that was just a rhetoric.

Bwahahaha I voted poor because I couldn't watch it yet and was pissed I couldn't see it....

Uh...you do realize Asgard predates Stargate, right? And that Stargate isn't the first science-fiction series to utilize Asgard, right?

Well, that's a waste isn't it? There's no reason why you have to vote now.

Oh and another thing I forgot about...SPOILERS! I loved that, no peeking now everyone.
Yes, that whole conversation had me in stitches. Moffat knows fans only too well!

anyone else think that Doctor Who: Confidential, was the "this is why we picked Moffat to take over from RTDs" show this week?
