Humans are not kings of the galaxy because we're paragons of moral fortitude but because we combine boredom with genius. It's a fair cop.
Humans ask how something works, but they don't really want to know. They just need enough information to get it to work, so they can figure out how to do the craziest thing they can think of with it. Because that would be fun.
