^^Well, I don't know the history you guys seem to have, but isn't it possible that the inclusion of the word "black" was simply a physical descriptor? I know we live in sensitive times, but if Spock was mackin' on Rand, would "Emo Spock making out with the blonde chick" be inappropriate?

Context means a lot, Spork.

And the context of that quote isn't simply as a descriptor (as in there were a bunch of women and the only way to differentiate was to decribe her features), but a very specifically a negative one.

^^ that is kinda how i feel.
things have changed so much i can see both of them making extra effort to see things through together.
tpring being out of the picture could also affect things.

just dont make it the major focus of the film.. no pon farr during the film ect..

I went with yes, I kinda liked the idea of it. Added some depth to both of the characters and was a part of the whole 'we are goig off in our own new direction' thing.

Relationships happen in real life and they change and alter characters adding a degree of emotional depth and dimensions.

I say go for it, stay the course. No more reset buttons. Be daring what the hell.

Agreed. The relationship between the two offers us an opportunity to get to know each of these characters better.

The more emotional Spock is not inconsistent with TOS lore. In "The Menagerie" (or "The Cage"), TOS Spock in his younger days is portrayed as being more emotional. In the Abramsverse, nuSpock mirrors that. Young Spock is more impulsive and, perhaps, emotionally more immature, making him more likely to explore a relationship that his human half yearns for, but in a measured way, as his Vulcan nature would demand. His relationship with Uhura, who isn't really that much younger than he is and shares his values, is not out of the question. Young Spock, by virtue of his youth, is more open to this than the older, more mature TOS Spock, whose life patterns had been set by time we met him.

I do not want to see the relationship dropped. My, how refreshing it would be to see a lasting, devoted relationship in Hollywood flicks! How innovative! I don't think it has to be a question of "EITHER/OR" in showing the relationship versus showing science fiction drama and action. Why can't it be used as an "AND" which enhances existing drama and action?

I voted "Yes" to keep it going, though I'd rather see it as something that affects Spock and causes some sort of conflict, as I believe we saw a little of in the latest film.

Uhura is 7 years younger than Spock, I think so she is only 18. Don't tie her down at such a young age!
