Do you think Trek XI will end with everything tied up in a nice bow or will it end with a cliffhanger that leaves you in suspense for the sequel? I think given JJ's history there will be some sort of Cliffhanger that will leave us wanting more! What do others think?

I think it'll be pretty self contained with the whole Nero situation being resolved by the end. But sequels will be possible.

They've already said it would be arrogant and presumptuous of them to create a cliffhanger, but I can't see them leaving some threads untied, leaving the audience wanting more. That's just showmanship.

No, I don't believe it will have a cliffhanger ending based on what Abrams and co. have said.

It will be a self contained movie leaving of course the door open for the crew to continue its adventures in possible sequels.

I think that they will make this a stand alone movie, with the obvious ending of them sailing off into the unknown kind of thing.

Some cast have said that the last shot is
The crew standing on the bridge ready to get underway to explore new worlds.

But I imagine some plot points might be there to be explored in later movies. Such as the Klingons!

The movie will end with Spock returning to the future to find James T. Kirk played by William Shatner alive and well. The two then hang out on a balcony of Starfleet HQ and smoke cigars.

Then the second the credits roll, George Takei tells the nearest reporter that in the next movie his Sulu should be the one to go back in time to interact with the new crew.

I don't think there will be a big cliff hanger since there's no guarantee that the studio will pursue a sequel unless the movie is a success. I'm sure there will be some loose ends left to make way for a potential sequel, but I feel that this movie is essentially a test of the viability of nuTrek.

I hope for a clear conclusion to this story but I also hope a sequel seed is planted somewhere along the journey.

Since they obviously aren't killing the main cast there will be the built in sequel opportunity, but they are going to wrap up the main conflict, just like every other Trek movie where Earth is threatened.

I think it will be similar to Iron Man -- It will have a definite ending to the story being told, but there will be additional material that will set up a possible next film.

Or quite possibly we will be left at the very end with some subjective plot point that is never quite explained nor will ever be revisted in the sequel.

My vote is for 'no cliffhanger'.

However, I hope the movie does well enough to warrant sequels. It will suck if this is the only Abrams era Trek we ever get.

please Lord, no. When I shell out that much to see a movie, I want to see a complete story.
Amen!

^That is the most likely way they will end the movie, The whole Nero thing will be for this movie, but there will be more plot points to explore in the sequel if this is a hit!

No cliff hanger. But open ended for more. Maybe not quite like WoK, where Spock's dead body is tossed onto the Genesis planet, and you just know he has got to "come back from the dead." Perhaps more like TMP... the story is wrapped up and now the crew is preparing to get underway for their next mission.

This movie WILL be successful. You know why? The Star Trek fans are hungry for it. There's no regular ST series going. All we've got are the movies. And from what I can see on the production values, at the least it'll be an 'ok' movie. There are many movies that have made a killing at the box office while still being just 'ok'. Besides... all that investment in new props, sets, and uniforms... reusing them for another movie means quite a discount in overhead. ;)

Ya Maybe they will wrap up most of the main plot line but at the very end we will see some new threat that the crew of the Enterprise will have to battle in the next movie that will leave fans excited for a sequel!
