Do you think there will be a TNG movie EVER again?

I guess since Nemesis's failure that pretty much meant the end of TNG movies.......for now.

But do you think it's even a little bit possible that we will see one sometime in the next 10 years, even if it just has like a couple of TNG people (as opposed to the complete cast)? Especially if Star Trek XI is a success and revives the Trek franchise?

Probably not. That ship has sailed, and I'll be honest; I'm not too choked up about it.

Agreed. The TNG cast probably won't be seen at the movies again, even with only a couple of them. This also probably explains why some of the TNG cast have been opposed to Abrams' movie in interviews for no real reason. Without their buddy Berman in charge trotting them out for sweeps appearances and movies to go in the old retirement fund they must be kind of bummed. :p

Give it a few years and Paramounts lust for the almighty dollar will make it happen.

I can see a TNG-ERA film or series again... but it's HIGHLY unlikely that anyone (in front of the camera or behind) from TNG will be involved again.

The actors are too old, overall, to be "appealing to new audiences." The characters are played out... it's time to let some of them have nice peaceful retirements back on Earth. The "style" (makeup, sound effects, music, sfx, set design, costume design) is all just "too familiar..." that is, all the Trek shows seem to blend together anymore.

EXCEPT for TOS, which stands alone, and feels totally different than any of the TNG-and-later-era stuff. It's NOT played out. (If they'd stayed truer to it over the years, though, it also would have become so, no argument there!)

We really have 79 episodes, a handful of books, and an animated series with the "feel" of TOS. (And I'm not counting the TMP and TWOK-and-later film feels at being the same as TOS.) It's FAR from "played out."

Maybe some of them will be seen in an independent movie like OGAM or in one of the fanfilms. A TV movie to celebrate their 30th anniversary 10 years down the line might also happen, given that Star Trek as a franchise will be revived by then ...

In sort of a cosmic alignment of events, three things would have to happen:
1. XI is a huge success and spawns two more TOS-era movies, which are also big successes.
2. Abrams walks away from "Star Trek" after the third movie (if he makes it that far). A new advocate takes over and wants to do something to put his (or her) mark on the franchise.
3. It would now be around 2014. If the glow from Abrams' three movies is still strong, then as the 30th anniversary of the airing of TNG approaches in 2017, nostalgia for it may lead to a movie (obviously with new actors in the roles).

In short, never say never. But don't hold your breath, either.

I think TNG is done. Trek is moving in a totally new direction now that Berman is out of power and Trek has a new leader in the form of JJ Abrams. If we're lucky, we'll get a couple of TOS-inspired films like Trek XI featuring the characters and actors that Abrams uses.

I don't think anyone from TNG, DS9, VOY or ENT will be seen again on-screen.

I say, jump aboard the Trek literature wagon and read the TNG "relaunch" and Titan novels if you want to see what happens to Picard and co.

No. The actors are too old, and they probably want to avoid paychecks on the order of Spiner's and Stewart's for Nemesis.

God I hope not. TNG has worn out its welcome and then some.

They've got the right idea now...just start over and revitalize the original Trek series...that should keep em busy for a good long time.

As much as I would love to see DS9 back in some form, that shouldn't be the priority now.

Thinking forward a ways, I can see a similar recasting/revitalizing going on with TNG, DS9, etc - but by then it might make more sense to simply come up with new characters and premises that will be spunoff from nuTOS.

...am I the first to say "nuTOS"? :D

Maybe TNG will get reimagined. Michael Rosenbaum as Picard, since he's currently bald already as long as he's on Smallville. :) Josh Hartnett can play Data since he doesn't show any emotions anyway.

Hah, I LIKE Rosenbaum as Picard. But my pick for a young Charles Xavier - Wentworth Miller - would work just as well as Picard. He's got the right looks, presence and talent, that's all you really need. (Rather see him as Xavier, tho.)

It would be kinda funny if they cast Ioan Gruffudd as young Picard (or an original captain) since Hornblower was an inspiration for Kirk.

I really hope not. They didn't get it right even once, so my expectations of them ever getting a TNG movie on a fifth try is zero. I'd rather they don't bother.

A theatrical movie? No. But there will probably be some TNG-based TV project one of these days. CBS, after all, may be looking in a few years for a Trek project that doesn't involve them in complicated negotiations with Paramount Pictures, and TNG would fit the bill.

Yeah, well, I think they'll stay away from TNG for a long time (2027 seems reasonable), because the audiences don't seem to like them. Other than the actors on TNG, nobody wants Picard. I'm not sure *why* the movies were aweful, but they were. So if they made another one, people would stay home in droves. Why make movies nobody wants?

No, there will never be a TNG movie ever again. Its over.

I do think there is a possibility of a TV-Movie though set in the TNG era, I suppose it all depends on how well Star Trek 2008 does financially.
