Assuming he's in the movie (we'll see on thursday), the man's been in retirement for about 15 years or so.
He turned down Generations as "there was no Spock part in that movie". One wonders if the potential role in the new movie is more substantial.
We all suspect it might be a glorified cameo, but do we really think he would drag himself out of retirement for a voiceover? For 5 mins at the end/start of the movie? This film has been touted as being about James T. Kirk. I find it interesting that the Spock part has been (supposedly) cast but we havent heard too much about Kirk yet.
Is the focus shifting? Did Shat price himself out of the movie and they were forced into some sort of rewrite? I still think Kirk will be the focus, but I just can't see Nimoy bothering unless there was really something for him to do.
Thoughts?
