I'm not really big into conspiracy theories, but I thought I'd put out a general poll to see what the TrekBBS community thinks.

Please tell me if I've left any major ones out of the poll. :)

Well, I do have a theory that "Conspiracy" is the only decent first season TNG episode, but that probably doesn't count.

(i've never been able to find out how to embed on here. suggestions?)

also i really doubt the masons are secretly up to anything. my great grandfather was high up in the masons in india years ago. he said most of them were drunken imbeciles.

The tags are <yt> and </yt> (except using [,] brackets of course). If you preview before submitting or edit your post, the video will disappear.

Jesus. We can't even get people to merge in traffic. I doubt we could get a sufficiently large enough number of people to all cooperate long enough for there to be any kind of conspiracy like the ones listed here.

I think people believe in conspiracies because if gives the most arrogant and narcissistic amongst us a sense of control, a feeling of being "in the know," facts and logic be damned. They are special, because "the man" hasn't pulled the wool over their eyes.

It's the same kind of magical thinking children have, where if you say the right poem, you can make it rain and if you wish really, really hard, you can get what you want. Must be nice to be that delusional.

In answer to the OP's question, I subscribed to Conspiracy Theory on Netflix. But I also subscribe to these conspiracy theories:

I believe there's an international banking conspiracy with sixteen powerful members with Bond villain names like Rich Ricci and Mr. Diamond who secretly hold great influence over the world economy.

I believe aliens used to secretly infiltrate our southern borders and hide among us until we drove most of them off by ruining our economy.

I believe the children are our future...

I believe gravity is a money-making scheme by Jenny Craig and Richard Simmons.

I believe Valentine's Day is a money-making scheme by Hallmark and Zales.

I believe Christian Bale is secretly the masked vigilante known as The Batman. Why don't you ever see them in the same place at the same time?

I believe Skynet controls defense communications systems.

I believe all pyramid schemes are secretly run by some old Giza in Egypt.

I believe the Ewes control the media in an attempt to pull the wool over our eyes.

I believe the destruction of the Death Star was an inside job.

I believe the US Congress is a false flag operation designed to make the US Congress look incredibly incompetent.

I believe Oliver Stone killed JFK...
... by making the plot way too convoluted and implausible.

I believe Barack Obama is a secret Christian capitalist who was born in the United States.

I believe The Philadelphia Experiment was an attempt to make a whole cheese steak disappear into my belly.

I believe you'd already have to be really high to listen to The Dark Side of the Moon while simultaneously watching The Wizard of Oz, so any observations you draw from that will be suspect.

I believe I used to think Opus Dei was just a funny way of saying its the day the Sunday funnies come out.

I believe Majestic 12 is not all that. They're just okay at best.

The only conspiracy theory I believe in is that some mysterious force spread an incredible amount of stupidity amongst humans.

Like all sane people, I'm aware of the threat posed by the Lizardmen and the Illuminati.

Also, if the Lizardmen are real, then the government knowledge of aliens logically follows.

The Freemasons are a totally real thing and they don't even bother hiding it. My grandfather was one, and I see bumper stickers and such all the time. I think one can even get a license plate with that compass, square, and letter "G" thingie on them.

Big business is definitely suppressing the knowledge that neodymium magnets are the key to free energy. Fuckin' magnets!

There are no Lizardmen, but there are Morlocks, and the Illuminati has conspired with them hide the existence of the Loch Ness Monster, which they are studying in order to create an army of genetically modified plesiosaurs to fight in the seas when the Grays invade. I keep this theory written on tinfoil in crayon which I wear in my ballcap all day so the CIA won't learn I know about it when they beam the microwaves through the atmosphere to read our thoughts.

I for one welcome our new Reptilian overlords.

I believe that Gary Hart was set up. That is, that Donna Rice was a republican plant, possibly sent his way by the late Lee Atwater, if not to outright seduce him, to at least give the public impression that something had taken place.

I believe that the US shared intel with the Brits during the Falklands war because Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher were having an affair.
