I would have absolutely no problem with that. In fact I wish TOS-R would have done it.

It might add a layer of distraction to some scenes. Remember in SW: Attack of the Clones when two people would be talking, and the picture window behind them was a ridiculously overdone beehive of airborne traffic? What was that for? All that CGI crap just drew the eye and the mind away from the actors.

That said, if CBS had put in the time and money to add cool perimeter displays, and they got it just right, realistic and not too eye-grabbing, it would look really cool.

^ "In a Mirror, Darkly" did a good job with those displays on the bridge of the Defiant. They weren't crammed with useless info, but at least they had displays that moved.

Anyway, back to original models instead of mediocre CG.

How good was it? I had chills up my spine seeing that re-shot footage with the 11ft model. Seriously. Thanks for creating that, SpockBoy. :) I still have copies of your gag reels that you did nearly 10 years ago. They're terrific! My favorite is the one for Errand of Mercy.

Yeah, the original CGI of the Enterprise was pretty lame. I guess it was great for the day, but I wish that they would have waited a bit for the technology to improve. Would they really bother to go back and do it again? Or, just pay some devoted fans who have the talent. I'm sure they wouldn't mind the work and credit. :techman:

I
I absolutely prefer the remastered version.
I have looked at the remastered episodes and some of the new effects are so trivial as to be laughable. Different colours for bulkheads, phasers that emit different types of beams, etc. All rather silly. That's why I watch my unaltered DVDs. The way it was. Back in the day.

I do not. My favourite shots of the Enterprise are the ones used in the opening credits of season 2 and 3 where the ship looks shiny and white. I voted for I'll take what I can get.

I like the digital model mostly for the improved movement.
The original was a piece of art though.
