I wouldn't go so far as to say love but she was certainly fine in the role and had an interesting character.

I thought she was great but was glad to here she admitted her mistake in leaving the show. There were a lot of strong charters in DS9 and I would put hers in the middle.

There's no Star Trek character I'd rather get stuck in a turbolift with than Jadzia. :)

Really? I'd chose O'Brien or La Forge as they would be the most likely to get the turbolift unstuck.

I had no real problem with Terry Farrell as Jadzia Dax, the only thing I did have a problem with is that Farrell left and then we got Ezri Dax, which was a completely pointless and unnecessary addition to the series given there was only 1 season left. Other than that she was okay so I went with "Love", but if you had a more middle of the road choice I would have gone with that.

My main problem with Jadzia is that she was probably one of the characters with the most potential but didn't really come anywhere near close to fulfilling it. However, that is an issue with the producers and writers not Farrell.

No problem with her and when she got a good script, Farrell could nail it. Weakest of the main actors (incl top tier secondary actors) though but not enough for me to hate her.

As someone mentioned in another thread, I feel Jadzia was much better when she played off another character (worf, sisko). I feel Ezri didn't have the same, "shine" in this respect.

it seems to me that her actions were due to a bit of general ignorance combined with the seemingly all-too-common feeling amongst Trek actors that "it's just a tv show" and acting on it is "just a gig." Not real outright hate or disrespect for the fans, like a couple of them that I can think of.
Urm, it is just a tv show, and it is just a gig. ;)

Alright, you! Clearly, we need to take this outside.

;)

Seriously, though - I'm not delusional and believe it is real, or anything bonkers like that. But when something embodies a large number of people's hopes and beliefs and sense of connection with the rest of humanity, it has transcended being "just a tv show". And it shouldn't matter if you believe in it or not, you should still pay it at least a modicum of respect - especially if it pays your bills.

I'm an athiest, and I do computer work at churches sometimes. I may not believe what they do, but I'll show the appropriate respect for their symbols and beliefs.

I didn't mind Terry Farrell, but I never cared for the character. Jadzia was always too damn perfect. She could apparently do anything and almost never made a mistake. She could battle like a Klingon, be as composed as a Vulcan, always had something witty to say, 'sassy' sense of humor, etc etc etc. To me, she had all the qualities of a Mary Sue character written into the show.

Compare this with, say, Spock's accidental triggering of the control panel switch that alerted the Romulan ship to the Enterprise's location in Balance of Terror. Real people, even disciplined Vulcans, just accidentally screw up now and then.

I know it's supposed to be because she has generations of experience given her Trill symbiote, but it makes for a rather flat character. I feel they corrected this with the portrayal of Ezri as a meek, unconfident 'newbie', even though she had the same collective memories as Jadzia.

I declined to vote in the poll because my problem was not with the actress herself, but the character. And even then, I didn't 'hate' Jadzia.

She was fine. I don't know that I can say I love her, but if my only choices are "love her" or "hate her," "love her" is a much closer description for me. Farrell was fine, the character was interesting...I had absolutely no problems with her at all.

Maybe I'd be in no hurry to get unstuck? ;)

And besides, getting unstuck would be a job for that Turbolift Control department Picard tried to contact in Hide and Q. ;)

The problem with Jadzia wasn't Farrell. Farrell did good, and FWIW I liked Jadzia.

The problem was that they did little to distinguish what was 'Jadzia' and what was 'Dax' early on, unlike what they did with Ezri. Their initial clever idea to play the pretty girl as the wise old man, IMO, could have worked if they had made a clear early distinction between the two 'personas' but without it the irony was lost. Jadzia got better when they realized this hadn't worked and Errol Flynn'd her.

I thought she was a valued member of a pretty good ensemble. I also felt a little betrayed when she bailed with just one lousy season to go. Though I don't know that I blame her too much. I try to think how enthused she must have become after creating a character for six years of her life only to arbitrarily be turned into Mrs Worf.

:rommie: Good point. Although, they might have a better chance of getting it moving from the outside....and besides, Jadzia was no slouch in the tech department either.

I'd take Torres in that situation. She'd either get the lift moving, or tear the door off the hinges. :klingon: Klingon School of Engineering

If you want to spend time with her why on Earth would you want to do it in a turbolift? As a person who has been stuck in a lift before there is absolutely nothing sexy about it.

Personally if I were to spend time with Jadzia I'd prefer to do it at Quark's or the holosuite.

The point was that if I had to be isolated with one Trek character, I'd pick her. I only picked a turbolift as an example.
