Hey I said it once I will say it again.

Say what you will about Abrams design but it looks more like the original design than that Stardestroyer hybrid piece of crap they were planing to use for Planet of the Titans which you can look since its Forbin's avatar no offence to his taste.

I do like it even though it looked a tad bit squished in. Still, it's very retro looking but keeping with new century graphics.

Ok, let's be honest the design sucks. They should have gone with the Ken Adams Planet of The Titans sketch and stuck some neons on it instead.

I think I could learn to like the new look, though I reckon the bridge could do with looking less like that of the NX-01.

By that standard, so does a pizza pan attached to three paper towel rolls.

But the whole iconic design that Matt Jefferies came up with *is* a "saucer with three cylindrical projections, one below and two above".

The new Enterprise is still the same thing, only the details have been changed.

I look forward to the toys coming out...

Does that include the Burger King ones or just the Playmates ones. Mostly I just want the new ship.

Oh so by that anology a tug and a battleship are exactly the same, they both are ships aren't they?, except from "some details"....

Its the amount of "details" that make the original 1701/refit great designs and the Rebootprise a puke worthy piece of white molten goo.

Agreed - Just the ship.

The precise shape of the intercoolers (e.g.) are the details - and no - a battleship and a tug are not the same.

If that isn't an oops moment I don't know what is.

Terry Gilliam is doing f/x work for TREK XI? Genius!!! On the serious side, though, I imagine strong antigrav boosters combined with chemical rocket thrusters would be employed to raise the Enterprise from the surface into orbit unless one planned to do a Statue of Liberty on her, assemble her at the construction site and then break her down all over again into smaller chunks just to make the trip easier.

I don't know how people can bash the JJprise but love the TOS and refit versions. It doesn't make intellectual sense to me. I understand the emotions behind it, but there's no *logical* reason for it.
