yep, doesnt look like it would fall apart if so much as looked at the wrong way like the spindly (and ugly imho) original.

Not quite so simple as the poll's set up to allow for, but...no. I've got both artistic and canon-preference issues here. Mostly, I'm finding myself hoping that Mr. Abrams puts the toys away when he's done(for want of a better metaphor).

I must be honest and go with my first impression immediately upon seeing it...No.

I do like it a little better now...but this ship should be like your high school crush...beautiful the first time with no explanation necessary.

I like it. It looks as if it's designed for both space and atmospheric flight. Looks like a potential combat vessel.

I hear it has picked up some staticky responses from some people in Hollywood's SF science fiction starship design community, however. Some of the folks associated with Star Wars and BSG aren't too thrilled with the design.

Perhaps they were looking for more rust spots instead of a clean, Cadillac look.

I like it. The future begins all over again! (cheesy line, i know)
We all knew it was gonna be different.
I wonder what Matt Jefferies would have thought?

Sleek and beautiful, to a public not interested in canon, its going to look awesome.

RAMA

Sadly I dont like it. It has an almost exact copy of TMP saucer and ugly nacelles and awkward Engineering hull. Im surprised so many here actually like it. They really could have done a believable modern version of TOS-E but they screwed it up. Again I dont mind that visual continuity isnt adhered to exactly. The uniforms are great and the interior of the E is nice as well. But the exterior of the ship is just horrible. Im usually the guy who sticks up for visual continuity changes. BUT this is just to much. Doesnt fit at all.

Get a grip people! Its really not that different. Its more than adding a few stripes and lines, but its basic shape is the same.

I wonder what Matt Jefferies would have thought?

Before or after he tried to slit his wrists from looking at it?

Jesus Christ...

Saying shit like this about Jefferies is waaaaay more offense to his memory than a starship design for a movie.

Pull. Your. Selves. Together. People.

Redesigning the ship for the movie, to some degree, was a given. Changing it so drastically that it doesn't even look good at all is totally useless, even if it wasn't the Enterprise and just another Starfleet vessel its still ugly as sin.
