Do you have any Star Trek tattoos? I think i'm going to get one.

I have problems with long term commitments, including tatoo's. Cher has a tatoo. Seems like most people have tatoo's now. I guess that is three reasons I don't have a tatoo. ... Plus, they use needles.

I dont mind tattos on men

But some men and women go over board with them
.

I have to admit when l was a teen l did want a rose tatoo on my ankle but anything to big would look out of place.

I remember when I was younger I thought about getting a tattoo once. I am really glad I decided against it now.

Of course I wouldn't hold it against anyone who did decide to get a small little Trek tattoo that could not be seen when wearing normal clothing.

Larger ones are a completely different matter. At least for me and my artistic preferences, anyways.

Hmmm... which makes me wonder. Has anyone seen or heard of anyone doing any permanent Dax spots or an evil Chakotay version tattoo on their face?

I've contemplated getting a tattoo and as the Trill are my favourite Trek race I have contemplated getting Trill spots... but then I remember that its permanent and involves needles and I decide against it!

Though every now and then I consider getting a small tattoo, but I can never decide exactly what I want or where I'd put it...

So I can't wait to see what Yeoman Randi decides to have done! Please show us pics! :)

Trill spots in a small amount and in the right pattern and in the right spot that can be easily hidden by normal clothing would be the most natural looking Trek tattoo in my opinion. If done right: someone might just think it is some kind of unique set of patterned freckles or something. But the pattern would have to look like it was natural forming and it would have to match your normal skin tone, though.

But yes. The pain in adding each of those dots really would be quite an ordeal. Unless you constantly shot Novocain into the selected tattooed area (of course).

I think if I was to get Trill spots, I'd want the whole shebang! Both sides of the face and all the way down - but as you said, amazingly painful. As for why? I think it just looks really cool, as you said, it could almost be natural if done right.

If I got something small done, it'd probably be something like the Starfleet delta, like Yeoman Randi is considering. ;)

I got a communicator-type one on my left chest. I still like it and I've had it for quite some time. :techman:

I found a picture of mine right after I got it done. It's faded quite a bit since then, which I actually prefer. Fresh tattoos look a little too over-the-top to me, like somebody drew on you with a marker. I like them better once they've faded.

Caisson & Roger, thanks for posting the pictures of yours. They look GREAT!

Dball, i would LOVE to see a picture of yours!!!

I do love the idea of the insignia on my left side, sort of where a communicator would be. Still not 100% decided on the placement yet. In any case, i have the appt. set up and i have lined up a girlfriend to go with me for support (although she laughed when she heard it was going to be a trek tattoo). It is definitely going to be the insignia and it will be small. I'll post a pic once it's done. Thanks you guys for your support!

I have the deepest respect for anybody willing to face the needle over 10000 times for the sake of art...a delta on your chest OUCH that's gonna hurt!

I wanted a tattoo... until, at the age of 14, I met my great-grandfather. I told him about my desire to have one and he showed me his.

"Young man," he said, "I did not have a choice about my tattoo. The Nazi soldiers gave it to me for being a Jew. If you get a tattoo make sure it is one you can live with for the rest of your life."

I managed to survive combat duty in the military without ever getting a tattoo, as many of my friends did. To this day I do not have a tattoo.

On a lighter note, make sure wherever you put it... it won't sag or stretch later in life.:alienblush:

The photo looks good and it is remarkable the job they did with the tattoo.

I bet it hurt.when you had it done.

I dont understand how some people can have tattoos on theire face.

Great Tattoo!!!:techman:

I have Vina as Orion slave girl on my belly and when I wiggle it, she dances. I hum the quasi-Middle Eastern music she dances to.

Ok, not really. But it would be a good one.

I have one Trek tattoo... I do have a thread about it over in fan art, but I'll post a picture here as well ^_^

Apologies for the size of it

I got it done in October '09.... and I love it ^_^

That turned out really nice! Cute too! :techman:

I had considered getting a Trek influenced tattoo, but when I was working out a design for myself I found that (as body art went) I was pulled more towards Dune. I came up with a design for an arm band that was based on the Spacing Guild insignia from the first Dune movie.

It seemed fitting for me as the Guild was the mental and physical training school in Dune that emphasized pure mathematics (which is what I went to school for). I just didn't find anything in Trek that was both unique and meaningful enough to me to come up with a cool design (and I spent 6 months thinking about it).

Of course any time I think about getting another, I remember how much the first one hurt.
