Do you have a 'go to' episode?

When you just fancy watching a couple of episodes which ones do you choose.

I tried to choose the other day with Deep Space Nine, after nothing was on TV, and I struggled to find an episode I wanted to watch.

I liked the majority of the episodes when I watched them first time round (only a couple over the whole series annoyed me) and watch I what ever is given to me when it comes on SyFy but I just can't seem to choose one for myself. Not only on DS9 but the others as well.

So I wanted to ask.

Which episodes do you pick out the watch the most?

I think I used to. Back in the day it was the few episodes I had taped off TV, so it was always The Cage, Trouble with Tribbles, COTEOF, Parallels, Timescape, Pre-emptive Strike, All Good Things and most of DS9 seasons 6 & 7.

I found that I was over familiar with those, and neglected others. Since getting the DVDs, I've more or less had one of the series in rotation, so I always know the next episode to watch. It means I don't have to pick and choose, and I get to rediscover forgotten episodes, or ones I didn't think were any good.

At the moment I'm in TOS series 3, having started with Enterprise last summer. I started TOS in September for the anniversary.

Last night was 'For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky', which I don't think I've seen since it was on BBC2 about 20 years ago. I couldn't remember anything! It was a nice surprise actually.

My all-time happy episode is Trials and Tribble-ations.

I find that I mostly rewatch quiet episodes that are focussed on interpersonal or intrapersonal issues rather than on big battle scenes or scifi, for example:
The City on the Edge of Forever (TOS)
Rejoined (DS9)
Shuttlepod One (ENT)

Other than that, I like to rewatch anything with any of the following characters: Garak, Dukat, Shran or Kirk.

Last edited:
TOS: The Cage.
Voyager: Wink of an Eye.
Enterprise: the Nazi alien one.
DS9: Move along Home

Can't think one for TNG. I think I enjoy most of the episodes so it doesn't matter which one i'll watch.

I've seen Parallels more than anything else. I had it taped on VHS and I've seen it on Netflix a handful of times.

I really enjoy TNG: The Inner Light, because of how sad it is that the Kataan were not able to save themselves, yet wanted someone to know they had existed.

Not necessarily favorites or bests...bot episodes I find most enjoyable as rewatches.

TOS:
Corbomite Maneuver
Tholian Web
WNMHGB

TNG:
Cause and Effect
11001001

DS9:
Way of the Warrior

ENT:
Dead Stop

I like picking ones I didn't look at often in the past. Some of the more common ones were: "The Chase", "The Defector", "Booby Trap", Contagion", "1101001", "Where No One Has Gone Before"..

I've "rediscovered" "The Last Outpost".

"Anomaly" from ENT "Azati Prime" ENT,

I don't watch TV much now, but it used to be The Magnificent Ferengi. Whenever I needed cheering up, that was a reliable way to do it.

The DS9 Ferengi episodes were of very mixed quality, but that was easily the best.

Same, I love The Inner Light. It's also so well made. Why can't the TNG movies be like it - I ask myself.

Oh, totally.

TOS: "Arena". The fight music, amusing costumes, and a little "We're better than that" moral encouragement.
TNG, it's always "Disaster" or "Clues".
DS9: Civil Defense. I find it a fun episode. Note that like TNG it throws the main characters into a conundrum on familiar territory, yet they're still in the dark.
