Yes and thankfully are no longer members. The best thing DISCO could have done and did. :)

Since when do they not let people go their own way?

They let the Maqui go their own way, and look what happened.

By suggesting everyone would want to be part of the Federation. Its creepy in the extreme.

In what possible universe did they let the Marquis go their own way? That was the entire point.

Thanks to Worf, Alexander, & Alexander's Mom, along with B'llana; there are Klingons who don't fit into the traditional "Klingon" Stereo-Types and I'm sure that vision of what a "Klingon is" will expand and create a divide in Klingon Society that will fracture the populace who believes in the traditional "Klingon Ways" and those who want to "Modernize" and get along with the rest of the UFP and Galaxy.

Remember in ST:ENT, there was that Klingon Lawyer that talked about how Klingon society changed and how in the past, not everybody was a "Warrior".

Things can change again if that "Everybody needs to be a Warrior" mind-set goes away from the prevelant attitude to a fringe attitude.

There could be a fracturing of society like the Romulan Diaspora from Vulcan.

The same can apply with the hardcore authoritarian tendencies of some Romulans who are in power and want their empire to have an iron fisted grip over their citizens.

Or hopefully the Klingons can convert the galaxy from the ways of sickness and dishonor the Federation dogs support.

    :)

I honestly would rather see Klingon Society split apart and have those who believe in the "Klingon Empire" and the Warriors life-style / traditions and have them have a Diaspora and create their new society on a different planet / Star System that is far away.

You could even call them the "Neo Klingon Empire" and have a story where each House becomes their own mini "Kingdom" with a King / Royalty controlling a planet along with their citizens rulled by a Emperor who are allowed free movement amongst the Neo Klingon Empire with a Emperor who is elected into power by the average citizens who aren't part of a Royal Family / Lineage / House.

That would make for some interesting changes to the existing model by having the modernized Klingons exist in their current territory and the more classic "Warrior Society" Klingons be located else-where

The alternative being the Federation conquers them all?

Even in ST:_DISCO, the UFP at it's peak had 350 members, that's hardly every species in the MilkyWay galaxy.

There should be ALOT more sentient races in the Milky Way, much less the Universe.

And the UFP has standards for whom it accepts, it's not like it accepts everybody.

Yes but the premise of the thread is, "Should everyone eventually be part of the Federation?"

Forgive me if I missed something.

You can always just be on friendly terms with the UFP, not everybody needs to join.

And there are probably other organizations out there like the UFP, but slightly different.

In a thread titled "Do you believe at some point, everyone in the Milky Way joined the Federation?" it seems pretty well baked in to the base premise of the discussion.

I have no idea where you're getting this.

No: it's "do you believe at some point they did". There's no value judgement.

I don't believe it because I see no value in that happening.

How else would everyone join the Federation, which is the premise of the thread.

They wouldn't, it's fundamentally impossible to get everybody to agree on shared values, there will always be dissenters.

Ergo, you can't get everybody to do it.

Heck 350 Species joining the UFP spread cross 4 quadrants, that's a miracle in itself.

Yes by the 4th millennium or so. Or at least most space faring civilizations did.

It then went on to be intergalactic and later universal.
