Do People Under 30 Like This Movie Better Than Older Folks?

JJ said that he made this movie for people born in the 80s and 90s. So do younger people like it more than older folks?

The movie obviously appeals to a younger generation so I'm sure most people in their 20s and 30s would like it better.

I'm twenty-three, and I found the movie to be quite good. A little plodding in places, but overall, it managed to capture a sense of excitement I found to be lacking in the latest interations of the franchise.

As a brief aside, my favorite movies are also 1950's Harvey, and 1939's On Borrowed Time, so I may not be the proposed audience in which Abrams was aiming for.

I am 45 and have been watching Star Trek since I was 10 and this is my favorite Star Trek movie!

I am exactly 30, and after two viewings, I know I enjoyed it, and I think I liked it, but I'm not certain I thought it was good.

For whatever that's worth.

I'm not so sure there's a generational divide. I'm nearly fifty and I loved the movie.

I'm in my mid twenties, my dads in his early-mid fifties and we both loved it. Everyone else I know (offline, anyway) who's loved the film has been in their late twenties/early thirties or older.

45.

The film was ok -not the kind of film I would have gone to see if it weren't Trek though; too many explosions and too many one-liners -not enough character or, indeed, plot development.

Definitely a Generation ADHD™ film IMHO.

Im 42 and share the same birthday as Trek. I disliked the movie with a passion. Im a trek purist Im afraid.

Every person I know liked it, and all of them are under 30 - one guy stopped liking Trek since DS9 ended like me, but is back into now too. We'll see if my mum likes it though, she loved TNG and got me into it when I was a nipper.
