Do People Under 30 Like This Movie Better Than Older Folks?

I'm 24 and I'm torn between what I think of Star Trek and what this movie gave us. I think it received a little too much Star Wars-juice. It did well at the box office and that is all that matters, and I did enjoy watching it. I'll see the next movie but I will always be attached to the Star Trek universe I grew up watching.

I would be interested in the age stats if it was people who don't watch Trek. I think if there was a divide you would find it there. However a non-Trek forum I'm on has has a few posters saying they really enjoyed it, 40's+ and not Trek fans.

I did not find this movie ADHD as many mediocre action films are. It had tons more plot and character development, plus the usual Trek soliloquies which made it feel very much TREK and not just an action flick in space. I was surprised at how truly Trek it felt. I do think my age (46) has made me very meh about a lot of movies, or outright dislike them because half the time they feel like a 2 hour MTV video and have no depth. But this movie wasn't like this at all. Sure it was more action than episodes, but it's a movie! One of my big fears going in was that it was going to be long drawn out action scenes (I fell asleep during one of the Matrix movies). I dreaded Trek turning into that. I was incredibly thrilled with this movie and how the action sequences were perfect and exciting and not drawn out.

So am I seeing that oldies generally liked it, and that the people hating it tended to be younger?

I think we need a poll.

I'm three months away from turning 30 and I love the movie.

But, wait... what if the movie came four months from now, then where would I be? :wtf:
