Can't help it... I mustn't...really, the temptation is too... Oh well, so be it...
Well, that depends on the religion. What about Purgatory? What about the seven circles? Surely those imply a more complex and mature vision of morality. I mean, they don't make a lot of sense upon close scrutiny, but they're not vapid or inept.Hell (and heaven for that matter) are such childish and vapid black/white views of morality that I can't even think of anything clever to say about them. It's just so clearly bullshit.
It will be if I can't keep up with the latest Trek shows and movie's that will happen without me being able to see them. Is it bad of me that year's ago when that "Heaven's Gate" cult killed themselves part of me wondered how any Trek fan could do that when you had ongoing trek shows still on tv. It was mentioned a lot how a lot of them had been Star Trek and Sci-Fi fans.Non-existence won't be bad, you won't be there anyway.
Doesn't it take a emotion to feel content? I agree that it isn't fair but that doesn't mean it's something people should be fine with. People should be sad that they won't be able to enjoy planet earth once they are dead. Besides I am not someone who totally dismisses the idea of a God, just I don't think organized religion has any more of a clue to what is the real truth, anymore than anyone else. It's basically just a big "Who knows" to me. Nothing to feel secure about, in terms of a afterlife but it's still a nice concept to think might happen. If it doesn't then It's not like i'm going to be around to complain about it. I mean what I am going to do? Send a email to God? "Dear God, How dare you stop my exsitence. Not being sentient is not what I was expecting. I want you to fix my sitution, instantly!"You were content before you existed; you will be content when you longer exist.
You're born, you live and then you get snuffed the fuck out. Life is not fair; death is not fair. It just is. Welcome to reality.
Well, no you weren't content, but you weren't discontent either; you weren't anything, couldn't be anything at all. After, the same. You were content before you existed; you will be content when you longer exist.
Now that would truly be Heaven.Only when discussing trump and his trumplings.
A third category -- some just love God and their relationship with God in this life and don't think that much about what may or may not happen after they die.It can make an interesting question about what motivates religious adherents, do they really love God and want to join him in Heaven or do they just or more want to avoid eternal suffering in Hell. They might admit that it doesn't really matter which motivation is stronger or what motivates people at all, just getting to what they feel is the right outcome.
This.Hell (and heaven for that matter) are such childish and vapid black/white views of morality that I can't even think of anything clever to say about them. It's just so clearly bullshit.
