Of all the ideas David Gerrold postulated in The World of Star Trek, why was *this* the only one never adopted for the format document of The Next Generation?![]()
I have no idea. I personally find the image of Kang, Koloth, Kor, Gowron, and Martok having a fart-off in one of DS9's airlocks, Nutty Professor-style, hilarious.
I can totally imagine Worf trying to justify it to his Enterprise-D crewmates as it being the "mark of a True Warrior";and, further, going on to elaborate that this tradition has it's beginnings in a great farting contest between Kahless and his brother Morath, which continued on for twelve days and twelve nights...
But it IS the mark of a true warrior. Who else would drink as heavily as Klingons do the night prior to riding into battle? Have YOU ever tried drinking your own body weight in blood wine and then attempting a fart the next morning without crapping your pants, all while swinging a Bat'Leth and yelling nonsensical things about it being a good day to die? It's not as easy as it looks.
