I like the "Boldly go..." thing. And I like Courage's Star Trek fanfare, and the rest of his theme. :p

James Cromwell did not split the infinitive during his cameo appearance in "Broken Bow." I get a little kick out of the notion that Starfleet's been misquoting God Himself for a couple hundred years. :D

Yeah, but it's not an infinitive in the first place, there.

"This engine will let us go boldly where no man has gone before."

Myself, I've always liked how the word "threshold" is front and center in what Admiral Forrest said:

"Today we're about to cross a new threshold."

:shifty:

That actually seems to be the same chamber we first saw from outside in production launch teaser and then more closely in the upfronts trailer. The way the trailer was cut I kind of thought this chamber was on Vulcan. But yeah, the Discovery sickbay is cool, too.

I love that the Medal and ribbons look like todays ribbons. that's fricking awesome i'm hoping we get to see Dress uniforms with these bad boys.
Plus, the look is consistent with Kirk's medal we saw twice in TOS and the plethora of ribbons presented in the movies.

I could be wrong, but my impression from the interview wasn't that Seth was taking a pot shot at Discovery (though he's clearly under the impression that it's darker and less optimistic, as am I when I see the trailers) but that he was taking a shot at post-Enterprise Star Trek (i.e., the Kelvin Timeline) which is definitely a darker, less optimistic universe.

Hopefully Discovery will have the underlying optimism we expect from Star Trek. I'm looking forward to finding out and I'm looking forward to seeing Seth's new show.
I think Kelvin universe is a lot more optimistic than it is ever given credit for. It takes a very TOS style approach to humanity, that humanity can become better, but it isn't assumed that everyone will take that opportunity. And that's Kirk's story of embracing his "first, best, Destiny" (to quote Spock from TUC) and becoming a more heroic figure.

Less optimistic? How many chances is Kirk given to grow and succeed and become better than he was? Optimism is surrendered just because of challenges.
