Discovery Spin-Off Series in the Works?

If the creators say it's a reboot, it's a reboot. End of story.
They rebooted it by altering the timeline.

If something is connected to something that already exists, it's not a reboot.

Period.

Because of Trek '09's connections to already-existing Trek, it is by definition not a reboot.

So when CBS says DIS is set in the prime timeline, then it must be true. I can believe a greedy corporation over my own eyes and knowledge of Star Trek canon.

Oh good. The conversation has now consolidated the reboot AND prime “debates”. Thank God! I was worried these vital issues would fade from view. Glad it’s all under control.

If CBS or another company were making another star trek series that was more my taste then i would be happy for CBS to continue with this DISCOverse dross but since this is the only thing that is "Star trek" being made, im unhappy. The Kelvinverse movies and DISCO arent trek to me, they might be to you and some others, but ill need the picard series to be excellent for me to have a road to damascus moment. The cartoon makes me think it will be an animated danni pudi's powerless and although i like both the mirror universe and Section 31, i dont like the mirror empress....
Now you know how a lot of TOS fans felt from 1987 - 2001. ;)

I'm fine with a Section 31 show with Mirror Georgiou as the lead. Michelle Yeoh does seem to enjoy the character. Personally I liked her better as Prime Georgiou, but still, a Section 31 show led by MG could be fun. I would rather it be a Section 31 show with MG as the lead than a show about MG with Section 31 more in the background. I think a Section 31 show just opens the door to include more agents than focusing just on MG.

I don't like Mirror Georgiou as a protagonist. In fact, I don't like Mirror Georgiou at all. And I adore Michelle Yeoh!

But on the other hand, I can totally see that Michelle Yeoh might be much more interested in playing MU Georgiou than the prime version. Because the prime version is pretty close to the roles Georgious usually plays. Don't underestimate the pure motivation of fun for actors, chewing the scenery as over-the-top villains!

In fact, if I were an actor, I'd much rather like to play the Mirror Universe Emperor as well. But it's still a bad choice for the show, and as a viewer I'd much rather see either "regular" Georgiou, or Michelle Yeoh in a completely new role, than ever having to see MU Georgiou again.

Was thinking the same thing. Many actors love playing the "bad guy" for all those reasons. Jason Isaacs in particular has gone on the record saying how much he enjoyed playing Lorca and Malfoy before him. The good ones can pull it off without being typecast and roll right back into "good guy" roles without permanently damaging their careers.

Exactly. Actors have always been able to play heroes or villains, depending on the parts. Look at Basil Rathbone, who played dastardly villains opposite the likes of Robin Hood, Zorro, and Captain Blood, while also being the definitive Sherlock Holmes for entire generation.

Or, more recently, look at Anthony Hopkins or Cate Blanchett or even Tom Cruise.

I prefer Jeremy Brett to be honest.
