Yeah, this is pretty much perfect.
Still looks a little too 50/60s retro to me.

Yes. Like a proper homage should. Nothing wrong with retrostyle. It is not like things in 250 years from now will follow stylistic preferences of 2018. It looks updated detail-quality-wise, which is all that is needed.Still looks a little too 50/60s retro to me.
We know, your terrible taste is a matter of record.Agreed, to me it looks both dated and older than the NX.

DSC isn't nostalgia.
As you know, the original design looks laughably dated. It was okay in the sixties because it was all they could afford, but this is 2018. The Defiant in IAMD looked like a Model T next to a new Corvette. If they use that ancient, simplistic design today without substantial changes it will look like a cheap fanfilm and nobody will watch it. I swear, some of you people just want Discovery to be exactly like Star Trek Continues. Even Roddenberry threw out the sixties look with TMP. The TOS look is dead. This is what Star Trek looks like now, so deal with it.Yes. Like a proper homage should. Nothing wrong with retrostyle. Did you somehow miss that updated Connie on the last page? The one which I deemed pretty much perfect? As you know, the original design looks laughably dated. and those are all updated where needed. The Connie needs to be updated.
On the internet, at least certain parts of it, "/s" represents sarcasm. I think Vektor's Enterprise looks fantastic.Did you somehow miss that updated Connie on the last page? The one which I deemed pretty much perfect?

Oh, sorry! Very convincing impression of Mirror Mirror you did there! On the internet, at least certain parts of it, "/s" represents sarcasm. I think Vektor's Enterprise looks fantastic.
What kind of update would suit you? I'm genuinely curious.Still looks pretty dated
Probably something like this...What kind of update would suit you? I'm genuinely curious.

Can you provide a photo example? The retro styling needs to go for one. The texture also needs to look modern, not dated. It needs to look newer than the NX and the ships we have seen so far. But older than the Crossfield
It does a bit, problem is it still looks like it was designed in the 1960's, that was fine in the 60's and even into the 80's but its really stretching credibility when all the other ships we have seen look more advanced (even the Shenzou which is older) and with a greater level of detail, slapping a few extra windows in isn't really going to cut it.Still looks pretty dated
