Discovery has been delayed until May 2017

Is there any news about its availability or unavailability in China? I know China doesn't have Netflix, and Discovery is only on in Netflix (outside of US & Canada), so by default they're out. But China has made deals over House of Cards, so shouldn't we expect that one of their China-friendly streaming services would purchase rights to stream the series?

I'm not sure if Star Trek is that big of a deal in China (they did just premiere the movie there a couple weeks ago), but it's a big deal for CBS to be missing out on the whole market over there. Maybe a May date gives them more time to work something out.

I don't think they torrent that much in China. There are streaming websites that put up all US shows with Chinese subtitles on them. I suppose they could torrent them as well if they want a higher quality but I am not sure many would go through the extra steps.

There is no point putting anything on any kind of stream site in most of asia. Everything in asia, especially in China is pirated and sold on DVD's, Blu Ray and what not, as soon as humanly possible. There is no stream-"market" in Asia in general, and China specifically.

Really disappointed to hear this, but I guess I'd rather they take their time and get it right than to rush it to airing before it's ready. The creators are smart, talented people. So, I'll just trust they know what they're doing.

Am I a bad Trekkie because I really don't care if Discovery is delayed a few months? We have literally just have a ship design and some vague words from the creators about a female lead, gay characters and new uniforms. That's not really enough to get hyped about.
