Discovery at STLV. The massive info dump

Seems like a much more traditional Klingon look that we'd expect from this era. I notice a normal sized head too, unlike the ceremonial ones we've seen before that were elongated.

Fascinating. I dig the war paint.
Same. That's a nice touch. I have to say out of all the things Discovery is doing I'm looking forward to seeing if they make good on showing maybe different sides of the Klingons. As much as I enjoy them up till now it's always bothered me that on the whole they're all largely been shown as being the same other then the one off that shows up. That never made sense to me. They talk about how there are diplomats, scientist, etc but that's not what gets the focus on screen and I'm looking forward to seeing that.

I've been catching up on Game of Thrones lately. If only they could give the Klingon Houses the level of development, history, and character the Houses of Westeros have!

As opposed to a handful of extras wearing STIII hand-me-downs.

It is blasphemy to say as a 20 year Star Trek fan that I don't care about Klingons at all? I mean, I don't have anything against them, but they're just meh. I'm worried Discovery will focus too much on them. But then again, maybe they'll do something that will finally make Klingons interesting.

I feel exactly the same.

Not at all. I'm a 35 year-old fan who has never cared for the Klingons except a few individual characters despite, not because, the fact they're Klingons. I also don't want an overemphasis of Klingons on this show. Now and then is fine, and hopefully the trailers (which only cover the first three episodes) are marketing that's only misleading how much they're in the show.

I'm wondering why they aren't screening the first episode for fans at the show, and the only reason I can think is that while they're confident the show is solid, they don't want nitpicky Trekkies being the first to see it.

Question is, when do you think it will be screened for critics?

Because spoilers

Disagree. Showing to one small audience at ST Las Vegas is not going to affect ratings negatively. If anything, if it gets good buzz from the screening, it would likely increase ratings.

The likely reason is simply that it's a bit too early, or they just want to wait, no reason needed.

It's also not even done yet. They just did the first few days of music.

Bah beat me by a second pst, haha.

The make up is mostly the same as the other Klingons we've seen.

The detail on his arm reminds me of the 'spine' on TNG Klingon armour.

mostly, but to my taste, subtly different enough to be intriguing, looks like the giant cranium isn't so giant, but maybe it's just the angle

more into darkness-y

(yes that's supposed to be a compliment)

That's exactly what they're aiming at. Game of Thrones in Space. Whether they'll succeed or not is another story altogether. For example...

even higher quality of kol

the costume, the face... that's more like it

...This looks exactly like it's out of a video game. Although I do like the new look of the Darkspawn Hurlocks.

Common? No.

Very.

Arrow, Flash, Lucifer, Riverdale, Outlander, Powerless, Teen Titans, Defenders, Preacher, Twin Peaks, Stan Against Evil, Elementary, People of Earth, Beyond, Midnight Texas, Timeless, Son of Zorn, Supergirl, Blindspot, Containment, Dominion, Minority Report, Fear the Walking Dead, The Colony, The Expanse, Scream Queens, Constantine, iZombie, Salem, and The Strain all had full episodes screen at San Diego Comic Con over the past 3 years alone.

All of the above were never-before-seen episodes. The Flash, Constantine, Defenders, Twin Peaks, Minority Report, The Exorcist, Deception, Black Lighting, Krypton, Legion, Powerless, Blindspot, Jessica Jones, Limitless, Riverdale, People of Earth, Midnight Texas, Locke & Key, 24: Legacy, Frequency, and Time After Time all had their pilots screen at various comic book conventions ahead of their wide release.

So you can say spoilers are a problem, leaks are a problem, but specifically for these genre shows, it's quite common for networks to screen them at conventions. Clearly they feel there is some benefit.

As said already, it probably just wasn't ready, or they just made a strategic choice not to.

Purple Klingons? Well, at least they're not orange.

Why not, if you go dark enough you go very purple IRL. I mean this is a real skin tone
