Disco Writer used the N word in the writers room.

My money is on a young white writer on the show. It takes some special kind of white privledge to complain about a black man who you know has faced real racism for using the n-word. They made it about their feelings completly ignoring the point of the story where he was descibing some real racism that went down. Jason

I read the piece. I get where Mosley is coming from. Perhaps if he repeatedly used the word then HR would have had a case to reprimand him. As others have said he probably quit because he couldn't trust the people, the atmosphere was poisoned.
Or they gave him the option of quiting instead of firing him because they where on his side but they were afraid of twitter coming after them so letting him quit saves him from the indiginty of being fired. Jason

Hilarious that its got so bad that even a black man cant say it.

I cant say I am surprised to be honest.

Cant say I blame him for quitting either, the trust is gone.

P.S Probably a good idea if some members of the forum dont make assumptions as to who it was that complained and what their ethnicity is, we dont even know who else is in the writers room at this point.

For all we know its just him and Mr Blobby.

Does anything written in Mosley's open ED or the attitude he displays in it make you think he would mince words if that were the case? Because I don't see how this particular conspiracy theory holds any water given how he presents himself here.

This is all complete tin foil hat wearing speculation and serves no purpose......unless it was to look judgmental and to ignore your spellcheck, then it was a great success!

All I've seen is HIS side. Have you seen any other? Link?

He didn't name Discovery.

So Discovery doesn't have to rebut.

For all we know, Walter has been waiting 15 years to write this oped, so that the actually guilty party, Enterprise maybe, doesn't explode all over his face.

The issue is a socially conservative environment shutting down minorities to talk about racism.
Human Resources having the authority to tell people how they may and may not speak, what language is allowed, would be more socially progressive, and not socially conservative.

It is just a possible option. We will likely have to wait for those riveting behind the scenes books in our future. That or future documentries hosted by Shatner or Jonathan Frakes. Mostly likey Frakes. He has all the inside info. Wherever Trek news happens he is their in the room. Jason

I don't think black people should use that word to refer to themselves when they are with white people. It sends the wrong message.
Neither do I, but as a white man, that's irrelevant.

In a work environment I wouldn't use the F or C words which in normal life I use regularly and infrequently in that order. You could, I suppose, apply that to the N word but that's unacceptable for different reasons and is more context specific.

Paddy ? Not very common these days I think.
