Disco Ending In 2024

If you look at the audience scores for the Star Trek's series on rotten tomatoes, Strange New Worlds season 1 beats the first season of every other live action star trek series except TOS. I knew what I saw that, that SNWs had displaced Discovery as Flagship series, which given Discovery had bottom of the barrell approval for it last season, meant that Discovery would be getting cancelled soon, either season 5 or 6.

But folks who think that either Section 31 or Starfleet Academy will be next, shouldn't hold their breath, those are Kurtzmen's babies and he's really been the one who has been promoting the idea of them next. Kurtzmen's contract is coming to a close I hear. After the Clarience disaster I doubt it will be renewed and Kurtzman is the only champion those shows have right now.

Also it wouldn't be the first time SFA and Section 31 got pushed side, SNWs bumped them a side to head straight to the head of the line, I hear against Kurtzman's wishes.

Picard season 3 is doing orders of magnitidude better then season 1 & 2, and there is talk of a spin off. If Terry goes for a spin off coming off the success of Picard season 3, you can bet your bottom dollar that Paramount gives it too him, with a smaller budget perhaps then Discovery got. This time SFA and S31 won't simply be pushed back, they will be pushed off a cliff.

Season 5 being the last season was the not the plan by Kurtzmen and his team, they were already writing season 6, so this caught them by surprise, which is why they are scrambling to do a few more episodes for season 5 to tie everything up and give Discovery fans closer, because they weren't prepared for this.

Could you source these, please?

P+ wants to expand into Asia (and having Michelle front a show may be the way for them to do it).

All of the facts about Yeoh make the show very attractive for Paramount+.

Yeoh, OTOH, is probably fielding more offers to do interesting and remunerative work in films and TV right now than ever before in her career.

So, okay, she "loves Star Trek." This does not preclude her having or finding things that she loves more.

They'll have legacy sets from Disco.

I'm not opposed to it. I just don't think it'll work alongside Prodigy (too much overlap).

Redemption arc?

Meh, Hitler doesn't get a redemption arc.

If they really love this concept - and they probably don't love it nearly as much as they love building a show around Yeoh, any show at all - she's as likely as not to appear as an anchor character who hands the majority of the screen time off to an ensemble of other actors.

Cue certain segments of the internet demanding Terry Matalas replace Kurtzman in 2026...

This would be a great idea, Terry is less controversial then Kurtzman, could along with Akiva reunite the fandom.

But now I'm hearing from Script Doctor on Midnight's Edge After Dark, that all of New Star Trek could be shit canned, SNW, Prodigy, Lower Decks, although Akiva could save Strange New Worlds because he owns his own production company.

I think the future of Star Trek could be hanging by a thread named Akiva right now. Maybe Terry and Akiva could team up as a kind of James Gunn/pre phase 4 Kevin Feige to save Star Trek from being cancelled completely.

It goes without saying she's not going to be the only person in the cast.
