Disco characters...

..ok, I have talked before elsewhere about Tilly being very much in the vein of Harry Kim, and I know I have mentioned how Burnham Basically has a very similar character bio to Tom Paris, but...it only just hit me how far that goes. Her significant other is literally a half-Human half-Klingon, with issues around that Klingon side that they process and come to adapt into themselves...

What are other people seeing, what’s the mix of influences you see in Disco characters?

The Discovery character Sarek is a complete rip-off of Sarek, Spock's father, from TOS. They're both Ambassadors to Earth, both Vulcans, both fathers to a main character, and even both have the same name.

Discovery really needs to add some originality to its cast.

Yeah, they're both the same person.

I think some may have missed the position of the sarcasm switch. :)

They should have just used Sarek if they were going to do that.

Speaking of Vulcans. In Spock's time Vulcan's sexuality was a so closely guarded secret that even McCoy knew nothing about it. in T'Pol's time everybody knows about it and it's even a subject of casual conversation between Trip and Malcolm.
Whatever happened in the meantime?

Trip died. Malcolm disappeared. I'm not saying it was Vulcans... but it was Vulcans.

She's young like as in raw and smart like Chekov but does that morale boosting thing Neelix did. Bordering on comic relief.
