It's supposed to remain confidential anyway; any anonymous claim about medical condition should be considered suspect in a case like this.
I don't think that it is such a mystery anyway.
Major depression. It's a medical condition. Some people suffer from it. And you're more likely to commit suicide.
And that's all there is to it (most likely).
I disagree in that case. Everyone can become suicidal. It's important to know why someone did it, and what might have been signs of his intention. And way too much is always supressed in these cases just because the truth is too unpleasant. But it's very important to clear it up why someone committed suicide. That's the "good" thing when a public figure commits suicide: the issue becomes relevant again, and even if it is just for 15 minutes.
Yup. That's the most common cause of suicide.
People want there to be a reason, something more tangible, like a single event the suicide could be linked to, but most of the time that just isn't the case. A long battle with depression takes its toll, and for some people, living one more day is just too much to bear.
Well, there's an insightful and novel suggestion.
