Did you not know Star Trek until Elite Force?

In the old days you could get them demo cds and one day I played Star Trek Elite Force and did not know what Star Trek was but one day late in the night Star Trek Voyager was on tv and I was sure I said, Hey, there are the people from that game.

but it was on to late so we could not watch but I know that we got tapes of STV but I guess it would of been funny as it was voyager that was on but not the other ST shows.

Probably safe to say that the majority of folk here discovered Trek well before any video game, but it's cool that you discover Trek through the game Elite Force. I think you'll find that the majority of Trek is nothing like the game though. :)

What an unfortunate way to be introduced to the Star Trek universe.

(But I did play that game, and I enjoyed it)

I've watched Star Trek since the 70s. I have, however, played Elite Force. I liked the arena games. Particularly populating them with Ensign Kims and shooting him over and over again.

I confess I have no idea what Elite Force is. But my idea of a computer game is the Hearts program on my PC . . . :)

Elite Force was a first person shooter genre game for Star Trek, apparently using the Quake III Arena engine. (You couldn't tell that on the PS2 version though, despite stating that it too ran on the QIIIA engine). Elite Force took place on Voyager... Elite Force II occured after Voyager got home....I think the base ship was the Enterprise E.

There were others. Elite Force II, and there was one I think called Klingon Honor Guard.

It was an action shoot-em-up, totally missing the whole point of Star Trek.

But it sure was a blast! :D And I would say it was really good quality for it's time. I wonder if anyone still plays online matches.

I was a member of this board when Elite Force II came out. I've never played the game, but I remember the ads crashing my browser every time they appeared.

This is what video games looked like when I discovered Star Trek.

Shawnster, remember the arcade version of the game "Space War"? One of the ships looked like a stick figure version of the Enterprise. The other ship, I believe, would go on to become the ship in "Asteroids". I used to love Space War because of its key layout. As a kid, I really felt like I was controlling a powerful starship. :)

What was great about this game is that you could play the main character Ensign Munro, as a male or female.

I think my first Star Trek game was that Next Generation action/adventure game for the Sega Genesis. Starfleet Academy was my first PC game.

The lions share of the action in Star Trek at the time took the form of space battles, so that's sort of what I expected in a Star Trek game. It could be space only, or space and ground, but not ground only. That kind of turned me off to Elite Force and its sequel. They seemed like nothing more or less than a Star Trek skin mod of Quake or Doom. Although I did appreciate the ability to spawn Janeway and/or Neelix bots and massacre them endlessly.

According to you, yes. Many people have played it and have had no problem, and it was one of the best games of the various platforms.

Don't fret, there's Star Trek: The Next Generation – A Final Unity, and two other Star Trek games that aren't all of what you dislike in Elite Force and Klingon Honor Guard.

You conveniently ignored the rest of my post there.... I did indicate that I enjoyed Elite Force.

I used to have the TNG game for Genesis. I remember I used to fly around with the big E-D trying to pick fights with other ships. After I blew a couple of Ferengi D'koras out of the stars, the game stopped, and I had to restart. LOL!

One of my favorites was Starfleet Academy for the Super Nintendo. A friend and I used to get together and deathmatch on that game...and sometimes we even used it in our RPG sessions. How "geek" is that? :D

I would not mind counting the 25th Anniversary Edition and Judgement Rights as part of the 5 year mission. They were great stories.

Ditto! I am thrilled somebody else remembers the NES version instead of the PC version...

That said, has somebody seen a playthrough of the PC version that has ALL the dialogue options? I know it'd be hours long but I'd watch it!
