Did you have a High School Hangout?

Just about ever tv show about HIgh School has had a single place were the kids would hangout at. From the Peach Pitt from "90210" to the Libary and the bar that's name has slipped me at the moment on "Buffy" you almost always see a place.
Me I didn't really hangout alot in high school because I was still working on my shyness. The closest thing I can think of would be the local Sonic. It was a small town so it was the only Sonic. PLus since I was on the football team they gave you free coupons to eat their so it made since to go their.

There were probably a few hangouts, but you don’t go to hang out when you possess neither a car nor the ability to interact socially.

Well I had the car but also was lacking the ability to interact socially. Never learned how to be cool which seems to go along way in high school.

My small group of friends hung out mostly in a big tree, known locally as the Big Oak. It was away from the dickheads, easy enough to climb and could seat four of us with ease.

It was on a little used footpath, about a mile from the village, and commnanded views of the whole area. We could also see any trouble makers approaching and give us time to move on.

This was from the age 12-16, long before we had cars. There were social clubs and such that we could join, but we were socially awkward and none of us had any money.

Not in the way it is often portrayed on TV and the movies. We had the student lounge for the dorm kids after dinner. Some cliques would meet up at the same friend's home time to time on the weekends though.

we used to meet at a very good cafe where they had the best cakes in town and awesome home-made ice cream. One day in Summer the whole class decided to play truant to our English lesson in the afternoon and simply pretend we had thought we'd have the afternoon off due to the heat. When we met at the cafe we found our English teacher behind a huge sundae - she had decided to play truant on us and pretend she had thought the afternoon was off :D
We had a great time, learning all the English names for different sorts of ice creams, cookies and cakes  Bestest English lesson ever ;)

While in School, at break, the Library.

During Lunchtime, a little section called the quadrangle locally. (open air, but surrounded on four sides by walls) We usually spent most of lunch playing various ball games there. It was also quiet enough so it was usually just our little gang there.

There was this mini mart down the block where the underclasspersons would get snacks, and the seniors would buy cigarettes and then turn around and sell them to the underclasspersons.

Interesting question. I can't really think of a specific place that I would hang out with my friends, pretty much just at each others' houses. At school we hung out in the same spot every day for lunch, in the quad in front of C building.

Later in high school I had just one close friend and we would often go for walks in a nearby regional park that had nice shady trails.

There were 5 high schools in my hometown and each had their own place to hang out after ballgames. My high school hangout was a Shakey's Pizza Parlour and my husband's was the Village Inn pizza place. I don't remember where the others hung out. In junior high, we hung out at The Dog House, a small cafe near the school. I'm sure we drove the owners crazy.

I hated high school. I would hang out wherever I wasn't supposed to go.

During lunch, sometimes, I'd even leave the school. Which we weren't supposed to do. There's a certain science involved with how to do that without getting caught.

I had a Computer Teacher who was a friend of mine, he'd wear a Star Trek tie every Friday, and we'd hang out. I'd get a pass to hang out with him during Study Period, and we'd talk Trek. We're still friends to this day.

10 years later, when I was a Substitute Teacher, a few people asked, "Why did you come back?!"

In junior and senior year I did an early college program. It felt so liberating to not have to be on campus at times when class wasn't in session. I would go practice bowling or billiards, or go to a nearby bookstore, or grab lunch somewhere.

Shakey's Pizza!!!! Oh my God, I haven't thought about that place in forever. Mojo Potatoes!

Ours was Bob's Big Boy.

I had one friend in high school, she and I didn't have any classes together so we'd spend time at lunch in the library. Then our last year we had different lunch periods so I was pretty much on my own.

That's almost my story in exact detail. I ate lunch in the library as well. Except for the friend part. I was by myself the entire time. I usually just read or their was some kids who were going to do some kind of performance on the sideline of one of the football games of "The Rocky Horror Story" so it seems like every lunch I would hear songs from the movie as they watched it on a tv in the room with a Vcr.
