Creative people want to be creative. It's still confusing that some species in DISCO look "classic" (like the Vulcans) but other species look different (like the Klingons or the Ferengi). So I don't really get the point.
Give some variety to otherwise stale designs. It's still confusing that some species in DISCO look "classic" (like the Vulcans) but other species look different (like the Klingons or the Ferengi). So I don't really get the point.
Blasphemy. Everyone knows true entertainment means rigidly adhering to that which was established previously. Except for when TMP changed the Klingons, which is okay becauseCreative people want to be creative.
Come on grandad, kids today want the Klingons to look and sound like they've got half a bag of cotton wool in their cheeks. It's still confusing that some species in DISCO look "classic" (like the Vulcans) but other species look different (like the Klingons or the Ferengi). So I don't really get the point.
It's nice to see that someone gets it.Blasphemy. Everyone knows true entertainment means rigidly adhering to that which was established previously. Except for when TMP changed the Klingons, which is okay becausefans who began watching TNG are weirded out by the human looking Klingons of TOSan explanation was provided twenty-five years after the fact.

Arbitrary changes are fine when a: they happened years before I was born and b: were fixed in dialogue shortly after I became a fan so there isn't even an issue for me to complain about. Or c: when the original makeup only appeared in one Next Gen episode I didn't even like and got like 6.4 on IMDb.Yeah!
These arbitrary changes back then are totally fine while these new arbitrary changes are completely unacceptable!
I trust you know why!
So, arbitrary.Arbitrary changes are fine when a: they happened years before I was born and b: were fixed in dialogue shortly after I became a fan so there isn't even an issue for me to complain about. Or c: when the original makeup only appeared in one Next Gen episode I didn't even like and got like 6.4 on IMDb.
If I was old enough to be a Star Trek fan in 1979 and the internet was old enough for me to be using it, I would certainly have been bitching about the change in Klingon makeup. But now there's no point in me complaining about it as it's been acknowledged and explained. So, arbitrary.
Sorry, TMP was a massive change, and TSFS redid it again.
So, yeah, it's not new and it's arbitrary to me to say, "this change is fine but this not "
I don't get this.If I was old enough to be a Star Trek fan in 1979 and the internet was old enough for me to be using it, I would certainly have been bitching about the change in Klingon makeup. But now there's no point in me complaining about it as it's been acknowledged and explained.
If they explain Discovery's reworked Klingons and rubbish Ferengi in 20 years I'll certainly rethink my opinions about them, but that hasn't happened yet.
The change in Romulan makeup was weird as well, I wasn't keen on that. But it's also been explained, so I have nothing to complain about there either. The change in Bajoran and Trill makeup... eh, the shows get a free pass for an alien's first appearance or two, while they're still working it out. Cardassians looked a bit ropey the first time around as well.
Some changes are fine, some are not.
That helps."I'm used to it, so it's good" essentially.
If people just said "I don't like it." I'm fine with it. It's the "Trek has always been consistent until the day the Discovery nation attacked."Anyway, as customers we have the right to like or dislike things and to be critical. Everybody has different preferences![]()
OK but Discovery is actually the only Star Trek show I don't like.If people just said "I don't like it." I'm fine with it. It's the "Trek has always been consistent until the day the Discovery nation attacked."
Oh man, the Gorn are even worse. I was kind of rolling with Discovery's Klingons, I guess I had to in order to keep watching, but SNW's Gorn can just go away. I can't take the episodes they're in seriously at all.OK but Discovery is actually the only Star Trek show I don't like.
About the look of species, I also don't like the new Gorn in SNW although I like the show.
Well, I didn't like the look of the Gorn in TOS either, it was a cheap costume![]()
Your first Trek show you don't like is always hard.OK but Discovery is actually the only Star Trek show I don't like.
About the look of species, I also don't like the new Gorn in SNW although I like the show.
Well, I didn't like the look of the Gorn in TOS either, it was a cheap costume![]()
No, of course not.Of course I don't mean it in a racist way...
