Probably figured it was something similar to when socks go in the washing machine, or when my cat gets hold of something remotely important and loses it in the wormhole under the sofa.
Would have been a heck of a Voyager ep if 2800 Dominion ships suddenly materialized nearby.![]()
Yeah, but DS9 is really the only show that cared about wrapping up other show's loose ends that way.

It would have been a very short episode if it was in any way realistic.
They also show up in STO.
To judge by the numbers thrown around in the last season or two, those 2800 ships were not a particularly large force for the Dominion. So it's not like the Dominion would fall apart unless they could get the fleet back or anything.
Given that, I can't imagine the Founders particularly caring where the fleet had gone. Their attitude would likely be 'plenty more where that came from'.
Of course when word of the alpha quadrant failed to come back, I would expect them to send scouts through to see what had happened. Presumably those would vanish too. So they'd be left with an unanswerable mystery.
Wouldn't the natural assumption be that the minefield was in fact still there, and all the ships they sent through had been destroyed by it?
