It did for me! My first exposure to Star Trek was when I was about 3 I remember my dad popping in a beta tape of TAS and saying "you may like this".
Here I am 30 years later....
A while later he introduced me to TOS as a version of Star Trek that was slightly longer and had real actors. It seemed a natural transition.
I think really the question here is "did you happen to see TAS as your first ST" because then almost by default it did, and that was true for at least some of us. Having gone back recently and watched it in the last few weeks, sure, it's not fluidly animated, but the writing will still best just about any animated show (or modern day live sci fi show for that matter!)
