Did Spock's actions kill... [Spoilers]?

T'Paul

Commander
Spock's mother came within seconds of surviving.

Spock needlessly wasted precious seconds explaining to Uhura why he was beaming down to Vulcan.

If Spock hadn't dillydallied like that, Spock's mother would have survived.

Also, why didn't Enterprise beam some random Vulcans up to save them?

Re: Spock killed his mother

He made the classic movie villain blunder. He better be more careful or next time somebody might get his gun.

Re: Spock killed his mother

non-sequitar: something else might have gone wrong if he had done what you said, maybe something even worse.

I can't remeber why they couldn't beam people up however: was there interference from the drill thing?

Re: Spock killed his mother

The very slow transporter was also to blame, seems like your in the pattern forever before final transport. Heck, the Nx-01's transporter 100 years earlier was alot faster!

The drill was off by that point. Apparently they couldn't beam them out because they were in the "Katchregark".

However, I don't know why they didn't beam up some randoms off the surface.

Re: Spock killed his mother

Beaming is apparently a much more convuluted, less precise process in this version of the Trekiverse.

Re: Spock killed his mother

If Spock had beamed in earlier, it's possible his mother or father would have been killed inside the cave by falling statues or rocks.

By the way, Spock didn't "kill" his mother. It wasn't Spock's negligence that caused it. The only one that can be accused of murder is Nero.

Spock killed his mother

I think it's a little more accurate to say that he failed to save her.

Just don't let your misunderstanding cause you to run around the galaxy killing everyone in sight, just to punish Spock for trying to save her. ;)

tell you what. take an aspirin. get something to eat. wash it down with warm beer.

when you wake up: Spock won't have killed his mother.

Re: Spock killed his mother

You do know there is a nitpicking thread where you can, you know, pick your nits? (if you didn't, now you know) Do we really need a new thread for each individual "issue" you have with the movie?

I don't consider Spock killing his mother to be a nitpick.

It's a major, major issue.

Since he didn't do that, it is not only NOT a "major, major issue", it's not even really a nitpick. Then again, you saw fit to open a thread about how Pine's eye colour was a canon violation, so such faulty reasoning is not surprising.

Sam Cogsley, you (CENSORED) (so as to not get busted for flaming.)

What the HELL is that avatar?

And if he had ran faster to the transporter he would have saved her.
And if he eaten his breakfast faster, he would have reported to duty earlier, maybe encounter Kirk sooner, figured out what was going on faster...

See how that works?
