Did people cheer when Nimoy's Spock showed up?

Truth be told, when I saw Nimoy's Spock showed up, I saluted. I also did the same to Pike, Kirk when he was promoted, and when we see the Enterprise for the first time.

I heard some pleased reactions when Pike showed up in the wheelchair at the end. Odd place to cheer...but oh well.

Yes, his appearance was one of 6 occasions that got a round of applause.

Before he turned around, I thought he was Scotty.

Me too, and the collective gasp from the audience (including myself) indicated they had thought the same.

I loved when Old Spock recognized younger Kirk. You could see the emotion and love for his old, long-dead friend in his eyes.

Having Nimoy there really added to the emotional undercurrent of the film. It was the final thing that connected me to the characters.

Remember, from Spock's point of view coming from the year 2387, he hasn't seen Jim Kirk in 94 years...ever since he was supposedly killed on the maiden voyage of the Enterprise-B in 2293. Spock has spent almost a century with his best and dearest friend being little more than a memory or holodeck recreation.

Tears, I tell you!

Agreed. I didn't get misty at that moment...but I recall a huge shit-eating grin on my face when the two met up.;)

And Nimoy totally sold me on it.

There were a few "EWWWWW"s and gasps when Nero put the Ceti eel/slug into Pike's mouth.

No applause at my theater, but one guy who looked old enough to have watched TOS in its first run went "whoa!"

I felt pangs of sorrow for Old Spock having to live out the rest of his life in the new, altered timeline. Sure, he lived and can be used in another movie if Nimoy doesn't die before then...but it seemed a sad and poignant fate for our hero.

There must have been a lot of fans in the audience because they murmured, cheered, laughed, and otherwise reacted when there was any kind of homage to the original series, or to the movies.

I recall cheering for Spock, too. There was also applause at the very end.

Great audience to see it with. That part near the beginning, where a crewman got blown out through a hull breach aboard the Kelvin? I swear I heard someone yell "Shiiiit!" just as it cut to silence.

I was pissed when Spock showed up.

It was ridiculous that Kirk ended up in the same cave on the same planet as Spock, with Scotty a few miles away.

I started flinging popcorn around and spitting soda through my straw towards the screen to vent my frustration.

Really? :wtf:

The audience must have hated you.

When I left the theater, I heard two teenager or very early 20 something kids say, "dawg I ain't never watch Star Trek, but I'm gettin' this on DVD!"

now that's pretty hillarious. :guffaw:

anyhow, only 1 overweight guy around 40 stood up and clapped then did a vulcan "live long and prosper" sign. hmmm... i wonder if he was a star trek extremist... ahem i mean trekkie, or is the PC term trekker? my audience at the 1:20 PM Saturday IMAX showing did get a respectful clap at the end. it's been years since i heard that at the end of a film.
