Did Janeway finish her Jane Austin Holonovel?

The holonovel that Janeway was participating in was a gothic novel along the lines of one of the Bronte sisters. They were written in the Victorian era and influenced by Romanticism. Jane Austen is a product of the Napoleonic and Georgian eras. It was much more austere. Though her books are still lively as Miss Lemon and teacake have stated. For the record I think Janeway would be a fan of both. Indeed the above article about Mulgrew in Italy shows her interest in both(all four) authors. I also feel that Jane Austen is more difficult to recreate faithfully, maybe why we only saw Janeway in a gothic holonovel.

Perhaps the dodgy Romantic novel - which Austen satirised - is more appropriate to Voyager, with its regular forays into bathos and melodrama.

Oh I agree there. Northanger Abbey was always my favorite Austen. Just the reactions of the Trek folk when confronted by the mores of centuries past in holo characters makes the whole thing more of a satire.

Northanger Abbey is a hoot.

But my favourite Austen is Persuasion. I've a crush on Anne Elliot.

This is like the plumber who never fixes his own toilet.

I never returned Wuthering Heights because it had writing in it from one of my favorite teachers who was also the librarian. She died some years back and the book had sentimental meaning for me. I never actually liked Wuthering Heights though every time it comes up in forum land I think I should try it out again.

A new movie came out a few months ago.

It's a broody little bastard.

You can feel a chill from the moor's emanating off your telly.

Or there are books on tape.

Or you could get a celebrity impersonator of your current crush to read the book to you dressed in almost nothing.

not really.

It's just there's two sorts of people who will do most anything for 50 bucks.

Those you really want to see naked and those you really really don't.

It's about getting your value for money.

Kate Winslet's middle aged puppies on the loose and it's still an awful movie.

What are the odds of that?

How was the book?

I've never understood why people love this book. Heathcliff just seemed like an ass to me, a what's the point of a romance novel without a likeable leading man?

Even women like a fixerupper.

Think of the challenge?

Pull him down and build up something hollow and callow who does what he's told.

Both the main characters are really annoying, and so terrible at communicating. Seriously a 10 minute conversation could've avoided all that misery. I much prefer Jane Eyre,
Though the Bronte sisters pale in comparison to Jane Austen.

What really got to me the first time I read Jane Eyre was that I assumed as the ending neared that it would turn out he had died. I was very shocked at the happy ending which pleased me greatly.

Yeah if you read Wuthering Heights first, you would not assume a happy ending.
Has anyone ever read anything by Anne Bronte?

I think that should read "only women like a fixerupper" as this seems to be a female foible for the most part.

You didn't get that I was comparing my entire gender to 40 year old cars, or broke down ramshackle houses? although. Men do like Human fixerupper. It's just that... We generally don't need to fixem up. we're good. If we can date a 5 that with some effort could be a nine, it's happy days, because we got a nine and no other nine is going to waltz in and steal her cause they'd never look at a 5 twice. I'm afraid of nines. 5's I can handle locked and strapped when they come after mine, but nines make me invisible.

Where was I?

Women like men like men like old cars which is what I meant bu "even".

I really wish Spock would have mentioned his marriage to Savvik in the new movie 3 years ago. her left her behind.

That's sad.

As to the gender issues.. there's a reason why those old cars get less attractive the more rotting they do in the back yard.

I always tell the young 'uns, never get excited over potential. Often the seed of potential will never be any bigger than the seed. If you don't like it exactly as it is then don't invest.

Savvik got big like Kirsty got big?

I suppose that that's possible.

But sweety, darling, dumpling, our Kirsty got big in all the right places.

I have this friend who believes in vaginal pressure.

The collapsing weight or their belly creates a fleshy avalanche, to wit a tighter seal around his member.

Dude looks like an 80s rock star, but he refuses to go after skinny girls any more.
