Did i start at a good place for voyager?

I consider 'The Cloud' as an important episode. No one has mentioned 'The Cloud'--not to include cloud computing which didn't exist at the time.
In this ep. the doctor admits they are going to search every cubic inch of the quadrant rather than get home.
Tom's bistro is introduced, it is called Chez Sandrine in Paris and with his sweetheart Ricky, other French women, a gigolo with real pool sharks. Ha! Ha!

Destructor: I'm glad you like it, but frankly, I wouldn't encourage ANYONE to watch all of VOY in its entirety (nor for TNG or DS9, which I both love, for that matter).
Then we're stuck with a bunch of folks asking dumbass questions because they never bothered to invest time in the entire series.

Yeah, this, basically. Look, the series is a conglomerate of all it's individual episodes, not just 'the good ones'. If you just watch 'the good ones' as judged by some BBS board members then you're just gonna get a lot of explosions. I said to my gf: "It's okay, we can watch Voyager and I will filter out all of the bad ones." I would have definitely filtered out 'The Cloud', because I remember it being awful. But she insisted we watch all of them and, whaddya know, it's actually a pretty good character piece, even if it bored my teenage brain silly because nothing really happens, I actually appreciate it as an adult just BECAUSE nothing really happens, leaving more time to just interact with the crew.

We can't know what this viewer will find good or terrible. Just as we slogged through the bad eps, so should the OP, because there might be gold in them thar hills- maybe not for ME, but very possibly for thee.

Actually, that's a good point. We had to suffer, why shouldn't he? And I guess even the stupid episodes might have good moments in them.

Also if you grow to really like a particular character(s) you find something in each ep because you are enjoying watching your favorite interact.

I totally second this. When I rewatched DS9 recently, my girlfriend insisted we watch the whole thing. A few of the episodes I remembered being terrible were, in fact, terrible, but I discovered a newfound love for a bunch of them that people had drilled into me were horrendous.

Yeah man. In fact, it was something of a running joke in my family that the worst episode of Deep Space Nine was the one with the ad that went: "This week on Deep Space Nine... everyone's falling in love!" and like, I can't tell you how many times me and my siblings have said that line, we can barely talk about DS9 without someone saying: "Is that the show where... everyone's falling in love!"

So I was VERY prepared to skip over that particular episode (Fascination) when I rewatched DS9 with my gf, but we did watch it and we actually laughed pretty much the whole way through.

Pretty much DON'T listen to the negatives about Trek, that's what I have learned. Watch it for yourself and do it chronologically.

Before I even got to see ENT I was on a mailing list that endlessly bashed it as "not star trek". When I finally did watch the whole thing through I thought it was just filled with classic Trek stories. Sometimes SO classic I was ready for something new, but certainly not "not Trek".

Have all 7 seasons, however I don't really watch much of the first 3 seasons. Like most other shows it takes a bit of time to grease the wheels. Once it starts going it's really great, So I have to agree to start with Scorpion Pt 1...

I think I remember you leaving a comment about that on Jammer's Reviews a while back, actually. I recognized the name 'Destructor' from TrekBBS. When I got to the episode I had a similar enough reaction. It really isn't deserving of all the hate it gets!

Yeah, I totally agree with you. For better or worse, like it or not, yes or no, black or white, it's definitely Star Trek.

Exactly.
especially since you can't always judger something based on "strangers" opinions online. The best thing you can do is watch the whole thing and judge it for yourself. It also allows the person to better interact with those in the forum because they'll know all the subjects & topics.
