Did Geordie marry a REAL girl?

Geordi's just shy and awkward, I think a lot of people here (Including myself) can relate.
He got really mad at Leah only because she was (rightly) offended that he used her image for his erotic fantasies. Let's not fool ourselves: from no conceivable point of view he could be justified.

Except it was never erotic. The computer created an image to help him work through a problem and he became emotionally attached. He never once said “Create an image of Leah for me to bang” or even created her a second time.

Assuming that he must have continued to use it erotically with zero on screen evidence says more about your imagination and beliefs on human nature than Geordi.

Geordi handled the situation poorly because he has underdeveloped social skills, that’s all.

Why do you think his best friend is an android? He is so clueless about social norms he can only form lasting relationships with people with no social expectations.

She says she felt violated and the best he could do was just to shout back? Really? We are supposed to sympathize with him?

It does sort of beg the question, though...if Geordi updated the hologram (which, I repeat, HE DID NOT CREATE) with Brahms' personality profile, why was it so much nicer than the real Brahms?

I bet if LeVar ever came back, as a guest, he'd make sure that the older Geordi was nothing like the "creeper" that he once was.

Picard still has wet dreams about Minuete.

Don't blame him. That woman oozed sultry sexiness from every holographic pore in her body.

Geordi should have immediately deleted the hologram when the real Leah came aboard, though.

Definitely. Or well before that.

Let's not fool ourselves: from no conceivable point of view he could be justified.

Creating the thing was justified. Kissing it... well, Geordi was on the rebound and we can let it go. Keeping it was just a bad idea.

I don't know what the writer was thinking there.

I did a list of crimes committed in "Revenge of the Nerds". It's very long and very impressive. Been looking for a place to post it, actually.

I think the idea on a ship like the enterprise that sex with a hologram on the holodeck would even be possible, certainly not with a facsimile of a real person.
I get it might happen in quarks holosuite but that's a different environment.

Leah and Geordie wont ever have got together in my opinion, its likely the future picard sees is made for him to recognise in moments of confusion and associating leah and leforge is easy.

^ Those were much more primitive. The DSC one, for example, used rather crude holograms, only suitable for military training maneuvers.
Looks pretty sophisticated to me.

The Enterprise's holodeck is not for sex. The same safteys that stop people from being damaged, probably keep everything pg 13. Dozens of people can use the deck at the same time, living out completely different fantasies. Each illusionary world only stretches out and on for a few feet, if necessary, so that so many people can co-exist on the same deck. Basic Federation holodeck characters probably do not have genitals. Someone with a background in tech, can tape genitals onto anything. You cant have a pervert fluffing an Andorian harem, three feet away from a child playing baseball, because that kid may slip on his splooge... And sound travels.

Quark's holo suites were only for sex, until the Federation showed up.

You couldn't have sex in one of those.

Challenge accepted!

The simulation was based on a baseline psychological profile with a margin of error, didn't take her marriage into account (psych records were from before her marriage?), and was of an engineer in the facility where she'd worked on her life's work, solving a technical problem with a fellow engineer. Actual Leah was a married woman, had already made up her mind about the engineer that had been messing with said life's work, and probably had shuttle lag from her trip in.

This thread sure hates Geordi; probably a great time to start punishment proceedings on him since he presented weakness in a subpar episode? In "Booby Trap" Geordi had the stressful task to restore warp power to the Enterprise, although he had the holodeck recreate Dr. Brahms the program was designed to please the user. On TNG it was natural for a person to use the holodeck for recreation. Again, I don't care how much a person can compare themselves to Barclay, that officer did far worse abuses and he gets a pass because the members here like him.

I agree, i reread my post and think i missed out the bit where i said it shouldnt be possible, i was meaning to say it wouldnt be allowed and there would be restrictions in place to prevent it.

Unless you had the rank to bypass the restrictions, or you were a specialist.

Geordi was both.

Data recreated Joe Piscopo from history to teach him humour.

Well said. I admit, Geordi was a jerk in this one episode. He should've thought twice before putting moves on the real Leah Brahms. He should have committed the holographic version of her to oblivion. And he should have done nothing but profusely apologize when the hologram was discovered.

But, for the other 171 episodes, he was still a good friend, a great engineer, and a valued member of the Trek cast. Let's not forget that.

In this episodes he ticks every "creep box". He even makes her fault that she wasn't nice after his incredible creepy avances. Guys, if you really sympathize with him in this episodes, it's time for a little introspection.
