The proper spelling is Qo'nos, though Kronos is also permissible. It's never Chronos.

Pretty sure Kronos was used on-screen in movies VI and XIII. Qo'nos was used on-screen in Discovery.
IIRC, STID actually used both. Kronos in dialogue subtitles, Qo'nos on computer displays.
I found it more than a little bit jarring the first time I saw it as Kronos but I guess it does make sense alongside Romulus, Remus and Vulcan as allusions to classical Roman history.
More Greek on that one but yeah, it tracks with mythological and Roman history.
Sorry mate, you are bang on there. With how closely Greek and Roman mythology sync up I get their versions on names switched from time to time. 100% correct about Kronos being the Greek version

Fairly sure it is a prerequisite for being a Trek fan. That and relentlessly repeating ones own view in spite of and ignoring any opposing views...
I'm definitely good at the last one. But, there are some pendants that I just don't get. But, classic mythology? Yup, that's my thing!

Growing up, classical myth from the Egyptians through Greeks, Romans, to the Vikings and King Arthur and that were huge for me. Quite possibly one of the main attractions of Stargate for me!
What do you mean when you say that you don't get some pedants? Maybe there are a new breed that I've not come across yet.
I doubt it is new. I just struggle with the insistence of starship registries making sense or lining up perfect canon. But, I do have a weird pedantry for spelling. It takes all kinds.
I have certainly become less precise with my spelling and grammar of late. I used to take it to the nth degree but, for reasons not yet known to me, I have laid off on that.
I see what you mean - similarly I don't get anything from ship registries (although I used to enjoy memorising them when I was younger) and "canonmonsters" can get annoying at times - more often though when they interlace *canon* with books plus head canon.
I see it with football fantom though (really football...) where there is this need to be the biggest and bestest super fan. Often times it comes via trying to define strata of fan groups; setting arbitrary boundaries for what constitutes a real fan; using the "no true Scotsman" fallacy to push others out.
The Internet has been both a blessing and a curse I feel - it allows people from all over the world to come together, share knowledge and so on.
It also encourages expression is the most extreme terms - a football journo called Sid Lowe summed it up brilliantly, "Give a man a mask and he will tell you the truth. Give a man a user name and he will act like a total twat".
Yeah, the anonymity factor plus the dehumanization of the Internet makes it much easier to be less gracious at times. But, the other side is the sheer amount of identity poured in to being a fan of anything. I mean, I like Star Trek as well as the next person, but it doesn't threaten my sense of self like it seems to in others. I'm genuinely confused by the reaction at times.
But, that is not for small minds to wonder, I suppose.
I've attempted to get discussions on this topic going before as I do at times wonder if I am "less of a fan" than others.
I can't bring myself to get angry over what is someone else's creation.
I enjoy the world that has been created and so I just sit back, relax, and let the waves take me. If shortener 1 wants to go dark - awesome, let's see the gritty side.
If producer 2 wants to go uplifting - awesome, nice little mirror.
I have not put anything in to this world in terms of creativity etc. I have just tuned in and seen what they have made. Doesn't matter what I thought might happen, that can be some fun on the side, but they are telling their story, not mine
Genuinely, I think so many different fans express it different ways and it takes a bit of effort to really understand the point of view of another fan. I am certainly not artistic person and my ability to create is limited, and yet there are fans out there who can make fantastic artistic works, and creations to express their fandom. Others focus on details. So, yeah I can definitely get the feeling of "lesser fan" idea. It's a hard one to move past.
But, it also amazes me at how conservationist in terms of accepting changes. I am like you were I am willing to explore what the ride is the producers want to tell. It doesn't in any way impact my ability to enjoy past stories. But, that's me. I am really able to compartmentalize this franchise in a way that seems unique.
Some people are obsessed with consistency, others couldn't care less about it.
I understand the obsessive nature to a degree. But when that obsessive nature interferes with the ability to enjoy a story it baffles me. It's like a teacher giving a failing grade for one spelling error in a 100 page paper.
I remember when I was a kid, barely a teen, we had a math teacher who would lower a grade if there were spelling errors in the answers. That was stupid because some people were very detailed in their answers and others put little more than the equations. So it encouraged the student to be succinct to a fault...The funny thing is that that teacher never seemed to realize that.
