Did data enjoy telling Kivas Fajo about

WildManWizard

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
how his whole collection had been confiscated? To me that's more interesting than if he fired the weapon on him before he was transported away or not. Brent Spiner delivered the line "I couldn't possibly get pleasure from it, I'm just an android" in such a way you can't tell if he's mocking him.

I don't think so. That whole scene seems designed for Fajo to try to get a rise out of Data but of course, because he's an android, that can't happen and won't happen. I never read any satisfaction on Data's part, into that scene.

I think Data enjoyed it immensely, in his own special way, emotions or not, through some neural net algorithmic methodology. I think the writers played with this, and clearly intended that the audience believe that he did enjoy it, while wrestling with the quandary of how this could be possible, just as we are puzzling that out now.

He didn't 'enjoy' it the way humans enjoyed that kind of thing. But maybe, the way Data's circuits 'Became accustomed to her input', his circuits pertaining to Kivas Fajo became complete, and his role in the relationship became closed.

Of course the moment he installed that emotion chip he was like "Oh yeah, when I told off Fajo, HELL YEAH.'
