Did Chakotay and Janeway ever have secret romantic feelings for one another

Janeway stuck on a ship for potentially 70 years and meant to use a dildo or the holodeck
Picard stuck on a ship for 15 years and meant to use a blow up doll or the holodeck
Kirk stuck on a ship for 5 years and meant to use a blow up doll or the holodeck
Archer stuck on a ship for 4 years and meant to use a blow up doll or the holodeck or Porthos
Yeah running Starfleet (where you can be away for years) like a present day military with human 18th century fraternisation rules makes a lot of sense...right?

In one of Archer's alternate timelines, we know what happens. The crew find mates from other places and incorporate them into the crew. And some onboard relationships happen as well amongst the original crew. Starfleet seems pretty relaxed about relationships in the chain of command except for the rare case like Janeway. So apparently it is ok for an XO (Spock and Uhura, Chakotey and Nine, Worf and Dax, Riker and anything that breathed, T'Pol and Tucker. Once you get the captain's pip it's time to get monastic or switch ships (Captain Freeman and Admiral Whatshisname)

I kind of see why Riker remained first officer for so long. Wanting the Enterprise had nothing to do with it.

I'll give that last a "like" just for the Porthos reference. Which pretty much says I'm a sick bastard. :nyah:

You'll get used to it.

But the rest of the post does make sense as well. Indeed, Phlox speaks to Archer on the subject in "A Night in Sickbay", though he provides no solutions.

Had Voyager gone generational, Janeway might have had to make certain decisions. Does she encourage pairing off, while remaining celibate? Does she lead by example? Or does Voyager just not go that route, so that it's crewed by Naomi, Miral, and a bunch of old folks at the end?

They had the holodeck where, somehow, holograms were material beings.

On the holodeck, you can... ah, relieve certain physical urges. So, for Janeway, mere sexual release would have been no problem. But if she wanted a kid, a real male would have been necessary. Unless she went the cloning route, which doesn't seem like her style.

In the books by Christie Golden, Chakotay breaks up with Seven and then takes command of Voyager with Paris as his second in command, gets to have set with Janeway once before she dies, but they never officially get together... I haven't read the books, couldn't bring myself to. Unpopular opinion: I liked C/7, not J/C, I would've been behind J/C if C/7 never happened.

Spoilers:

Her death doesn't last.
