Since the entire season accomplished nothing except for the cliffhanger, I have to wonder why they didn't just have Deb discover Dexter at the end of the fifth season.
And, boy, the cliffhanger wasn't set up at all. Debra wandering into the Church is so removed from the rest of the episode that it seems like a late minute after thought included so that something of consequence happened this season. At least the fifth season built to that final moment (though, of course, it resolved things with a terrible cop-out).
This season had a new showrunner.
To be honest, the only reason I disliked this season was because of how prevalent they're making the imaginary friends. I hated it enough when Harry first showed up, but now we're up to at least three of them, or four if the psychologist really does turn out to be one for Deb.
It's getting as bad as Battlestar Galactica's use of angels, except at least BSG had a bona fide reason for it.

Despite all the negative comments am sure Dexter audience will be virtually the same next season though I wish after this ending, season 7 would be the last.
In order of favourite after this season...

Really? Never knew that. I wonder if we'll see them again. I'm interested in their relationship with Dexter. Did he even have a chance to adopt them?Because people bitched about Rita and the kids... so they got their wish. Why happened to Cody and Astor? Why haven't they moved back in with Dexter by now? Season 6 makes it look like they never existed.
Something that was pretty much dropped after season 1.Dexter doesn't want to be with any woman sexually.
Wow! You really nailed that one.Anyway, I enjoyed this season but they really have to shake [the series] up and fast. Deb should walk in on Dex killing Tom Hanks Jr during the finale and if that doesn't happen, it should happen immediately next season.
