DEXTER Season 2

Agh! There are four episode left on Swedish TV of season 2! I can not wait to see how in the hell they wrap this season up. I'm desperatly trying to sell people on this brilliant series but so far I've only gotten my cousin to see it.

Okay--I'm four episodes into Season Two, and I have to say, I'm enjoying this season as much as the first.

Best line so far: "I go to stalk a killer, and I end up with a new car. How'd that happen?"

That was up there with last season's "This is ridiculous. I could be killing him right now."

One of the things the show has going is the awesome lines. :D

The first few episodes of season 2 are good but it reallly doesn't get great until half way though. Season 1 was the same way for me.

I've really enjoyed the series so far, in particular the second season. We don't have Showtime so we watch on DVD, and I've read the first novel. We have two episodes to go in the second season so I can't wait to find out what happens!

So it's only going to get better?

Sweet.

Finished Season 2 last night. Fantastic! And wow, the last handful of episodes were brilliant. Can't wait for Season 3!

As for the one-liners, one of my faves from the show had Rita & Dexter briefly discussing the search for the Bay Harbour Butcher. Rita says something along the lines that she hopes that when the police finally catch the BHB they really hurt him for what he's done. Then she kisses Dexter and says "Have a nice day," to which we hear Dexter think, "Make up your mind."

I love the monotony of is inner monologue to reflect that he's emotionless and the paradox when his subconscious acts he says: "What was that?"

Okay--I finished the season.

To be honest, I found the final episode a little anticlimactic and reset-button-ish. That was unfortunate, because the rest of the season was so good. Perhaps the preceding twelve episodes just raised expectations that were impossible to fulfil.

Anyway, it was a great season overall. I'm definitely looking forward to Season 3.

For now--on to The Wire, Season Five.

I LOVE this series! But here's something weird... every time I watch an episode the opening credits make me insanely hungry for breakfast!

That's Understandable.

SEASON TWO ENDING SPOILERS

The entire season was building up to catching Dexter and it's a little disappointing they didn't follow though. However I think most people knew that Dexter wouldn't be caught in season two since there is so much to explore about the character in the next few seasons. The whole Dexter and Doakes conversations were really great. I think it will be the final season or the series finale when/if the writers decide to have Dexter get caught. Personally I hope Dexter gets a happy ending because of how much his life was screwed up when he was a kid.

I've always found the opening credits to be very disturbing. Is Camelopard's post some kind of warning sign?;)

I don't know about disturbing, but it was annoying after I watched 15 episodes in a day, I got the theme stuck in my head for a week...

Wow! 15 episodes in a day? I don't think I can do that.

I never get tired of the opening credits. I watched both season one last year and season two this year in a week on dvd. I didn't become clear to me how violent the whole breakfast eating process really is until after seeing the credits...

I know what you mean.

I can't really say I get tired of them, I mean I could have fast forwarded the credits, but I sat and watched them every time, it was just annoying it was stuck in my head for a full week afterwards.

15 episodes in a day is nothing, me and a friend once watched a whole season of 24 in a day.

I'll agree with that... we wondered if the writer's strike affected it since it seemed to be going strong until the last couple of episodes... it just started to seem a little more erratic than the first season but perhaps that was intentional? Either way, still enjoyed it and can't wait for Season 3!

Season one was based on the first Dexter novel so it had loads of great material to take from. Season two for the most part was mainly done by the Dexter television writers. For the most part they did a good job on season two. I can easily see season three surpassing both season one and two in terms of quality now that the writers have gotten used to writing their own "canon".

The credits are hilarious. I watch them all the way through, every time.

Er...

Don't mind me.

They're from the same production company who created the equally memorable sequence that begins every episode of Six Feet Under. Nothing short of brilliant, and unlike the SFU credits, they actually got Michael C. Hall to be involved with them.
