So, I can't be the only person watching...
They have a special deal for new subscribers - $7/month for six months is what I got (some places it might be $8). Had to call Comcast a couple times before I got a customer service person who understood what I was asking for, but persistence pays.I wish I could afford Showtime.
I think the Dexter of the books is a distinctly different person. He's more chilly, witty, and emotionally distant, whereas TV Dexter is more morosely ironic, but you get a distinct sense that a real human being is behind the mask. TV Dexter is genuinely weighed down and stressed out by having to maintain his pose, but novel Dexter just glides lightly over it all, laughing all the way.Has anyone read the books? They're great, and they give you a lot more insight into the character.
It might not be realistic, but it's fun. A series about Ed Gein would simply be really, really unsettling and about as funny as waterboarding. Not that it wouldn't be interesting, it'd just be a completely different sort of show. Dexter captures rather exactly the sort of black humour I love the most - wry, understated, ironic.accurate in their depiction of a true sociopath who really doesn't have emotions. TV Dexter is just kidding himself about not having emotions. The TV show is cheating a bit by depicting a serial killer so charming and sympathetic that I doubt he could actually exist.
Yeah, I'll be watching.
In 12 months when it comes to DVD.
I wish I could afford Showtime. Not only for Dexter, but for the third season of Californication, which looks like it has fixed a lot of the problems I had with season two.
Alas.
Watched it, loved it. Rita is still annoying. Doesn't she understand he's got places to go and people to kill?
I'm not terribly impressed by John Lithgow, but then again I said the same thing about Smits last year, and he was amazing...Watched it, loved it. Rita is still annoying. Doesn't she understand he's got places to go and people to kill?
Not necessarily - just because Dexter had an accident doesn't mean people will be rooting thru his van, wherever the tow truck takes it. As long as he gets to it before anything starts rotting, hey, maybe nobody will notice? The baby certainly makes for an interesting angle... anybody else think what happened at the end was a dream?
