Design the Next Enterprise

I like that Century class starship. Is there more images of the ship anywhere? I've only seen that one and I wanna see more!

^ I think that's an great ship for the 'Enterprise', but yes, there's many ships which are more 'Enterprise', than Century-class.

If there was a "Design the Next Voyager" contest, I think this ship would have a very good chance of winning. I love the design, but I definitely get a Voyager vibe from it.

Something I don't understand about the Century is that, it has 22 decks and the crew compliment is 1224, which is bigger than Galaxy-class' compliment (42 decks, crew 1014)

The Galaxy-class has tons of room. Assuming most of the crew are roommates and live in the Data/Worf style quarters, as we typically see, that leaves tons of room in the Galaxy-class. The assumption can be made, in conjunction with the TNG: TM's statement's about the Galaxy having room for future expansion, that the ship is not packed full.

The Century-class could very well be a more ridgid design than the Galaxy.

I've made a few changes to my top view of the design.

I'm basically trying to move away from the secondary hull being long ways from the saucer and instead running across.

The saucer actually connects in the centre of the secondary hull so the secondary hull rises halfway above and below the saucer.

The shuttle bay is central so it's actually level with the saucer.

Sublight engines are on the back of the secondary hull.

The nacelles are connected to the secondary hull centrally just slightly raised above the saucer but the nacelles are connected to the saucer by pylons.
These pylons also house the forward Torpedo launchers, two launchers per pylon. The aft launchers are located on each side of the shuttle bay.

Is my description adequate or is there any confusion?

I understand what you're trying to do with this design. I'd say keep the idea, but make an original design. I'm saying this because it's quite obvious that this ship is just a kitbash of an Enterprise-C saucer and nacelles, with Sovereign bussards stuck to the front. I'm not sure what you used for the secondary hull, but it looks kinda like the rear end of an old 1950's car to me.

Now if your past responses to criticisms about your work are any indication, you're going to get all pissy with me for pointing out the flaws in your work. May I suggest that you take a deep breath, count to ten, and understand that I'm not making fun of your work or bashing it, but rather giving you pointers that any editor or honest criticizer would. Keep your idea, because it's original, but make an original saucer/nacelles/secondary hull.

Gonna give Lorna the benefit of the doubt here...

I don't mind kitbashing as a means of throwing out onto the table a quick and easy means of describing an idea. All the borrowed parts function as placeholders, and everyone can see "that's an engine, that's a shuttle bay" and so forth.

I am intrigued by the design. It is unique.

But, if what we're seeing here is the nearly-final design except for some minor tweaking... ummmm, no.

Well, it makes perfect sense to ME!

(Of course, I'm probably not be seeing what the artist intended, either...)

Well firstly the impulse engines are not pointing up, they're angled and are located above and below the secondary hull so in total there are 4 and allows quick manoeuvres. Due to the engines being shaped the way they are they look square when viewed from above.

The saucer is connected to the secondary hull, as I said before, centrally. In a way you could say the edge of the saucer is embedded in the secondary hull, at least that's what it would look like.

As for what are the light blue lines, why they're aesthetic of course.
