delta flyer and the aeroshuttle

Oh my lord... CoffeeAddict! Saw you had Janeway/coffee as your avatar and just checked out your profile and realized you are Charlynn from To the Journey / early years of TDQ. Had no idea you were on here! I listened to you all the time on old episodes of TDQ and currently listen to the new cast of TDQ and listen to TTJ all the time. I'm involved with the new TDQ group and got to guest with them a couple of times and loved it. :) Nice to see you on here! Also totally unrelated, but I'm vegetarian too. :p

sorry this video is unavailable from your location

Okay go look it up on the aus site which MIRACULOUSLY appears to have it, but vid is only 5 minutes long and can't find any part two?

Grr, Viacom and your rules about videos. It's a clip from Beavis and Butt-Head. They're both sipping on slurpees and Butt-Head asks Beavis, "What flavor is that?" Beavis responds, "Blue. Blue is my favorite flavor."

Captain Kathryn: Yes indeed, 'tis me! I'm here semi-regularly. You've been quite a dedicated listener if you remember me from the earlier days of TDQ. :) Which episodes did you guest on?

Someone to Watch Over Me (my favorite VOY episode) and will be on another one upcoming in the next month or so. I think I'm scheduled to be on an Enterprise podcast too for Terra Prime but haven't talked to him in a while so I should probably check on that.

Again nice to see you on here! And yes I've listened to every podcast of TDQ! I enjoy To the Journey too because it's random VOY topics.

Thanks for your kind words! I'll have to check out the Someone to Watch Over Me episode of TDQ. :)

Ahhhhh no I wasn't any good LOL. I had never been on a podcast before when I did that one! Haha. It was fun anyway and they were kind enough to ask me back.

"Blue" is actually a flavour in aus. Originally called "Blue heaven" but usually just called "Blue" these days. Mostly in milksahkes.

What does it taste like?

Captain Kathryn: Keep on podcasting! The more you do it, the more you'll improve.

Here we just say Blue Raspberry.

But sometimes blue tastes like blueberry...or cotton candy....

If it's blue and not made from berries or...blue potatoes... it's probably not good for you. :p

It's kinda a too strong cotton candy flavour (or as we would call it 'fairy floss') but sometimes it is raspberry. The blue milkshakes really only appeal to children and Star Wars fans.

Also, like the Captains yacht in Insurrection, when the vessel was deployed, there would be a gap in the hull. Given that Voyager already required two different types of shots because of the ship because of the moving warp pylons, it would've probably been an expense they wouldn't have wanted to take on.

They couldn't take two seconds to show a flat surface sliding across the gap to cover it?!? :wtf:

Still requires more varied shots of the ship, the aeroshuttle wasn't flat. I don't deny that they could get around it with using shots primarily of the dorsal hull and from behind, but why do that when you can just make one shot of the Delta Flyer leaving the shuttle bay and you can use your entire stock footage collection while it's in use?

Then have the replacement surface look exactly like the underside of the shuttle, *and* have it shimmer into place (via transporter/replicator) as part of the undocking sequence.

Thus, in any scene where the aeroshuttle is in use, the cover must therefore be already there, and indistinguishable from the shuttle itself. And then you could use any stock footage you want.

That seems a bit odd to me, it's one thing to have a blast shutter of sorts to cover up the gap left by the shuttle. However that would be an unnecessary part of the ship, since the docking area of the shuttle would have been the same hull as the rest of Voyager.

You know what would be ####ing hilarious?

If the Intrepid Class Star Ship was a Captain's yacht to a proper sized Star Ship.

In JJ Abrams' Trek world, it very nearly is.

Concept sketches for the aero shuttle used the basic design of the Runabout as a starting point (so they could reuse the existing DS9 sets).

The Delta Flyer allow VOY to put their own stamp on the design, plus keep up with the popular trend the Defiant set (integrated nacelles etc)

Remember, Voyager is design to land, so the cavity would need to be covered for aerodynamics.

i think when the aeroshuttle leaves, a hatch pushes down from above, it looks just like the aeroshuttle so a potential enemy wouldn't know it was gone just by looking at the ship.

:)
