Re: Defying Gravity: "Pilot" & "Natural Selection" 8/2 Grading/Discuss

The situation is obviously being controlled by this mysterious IT. Since I have been watching Gundam 00 recently, I could not tell if the name of this thing was Beta, Veda, or whatever. Consider the evidence presented by the crew so far.

1. Two people who seem perfectly healthy, suddenly develop bone problems.
2. A woman with pretty obvious hallucinations issue is part of the crew. She is apparently traumatized from whatever happened to the baby.
3. The buddhist on board goes a little nuts when he finds out he cannot stay on the mission, but seems fine once he gets back home.
4. A guy who washed out of the program because he cannot swim is still on the mission.

If this were a by-the-book mission at least two of these people would not be allowed on the ship.

It's the ratings logo that appears in the upper corner, i.e. TV MA is mature audiences. And then below that they have S for sex, V for violence, D for death, etc. For both episodes, the only letter was S.

Well, yes, obviously.

But what does RACHE mean?

That would be Rache Bartmoss gratuitously inserting himself into things.;)

Don't forget the astronaut who had his snip snip surgery magically undone.

Not Buddhist, but rather Hindu. That little statue he left on the hull was a representation of Ganesha, I believe...?

Re: Defying Gravity: "Pilot" & "Natural Selection" 8/2 Grading/Discuss

The route they flashed up only works if they are not really concerned with gravity assist. you can only take straight courses like that (and they were straight if you discount the u-turns at the planets) if you have a very fast drive system.

I am also hoping that route they flashed up was simplified to not show multiple orbits of the planets they are visiting, otherwise they are only going to be at each one for a couple of hours at most.

I suspect that gravity-velocity assists are in the works at each stopover, and that the route was simplified "for the viewers at home" from the ISO member nations.

My apologies. I think I got mixed up between that and a discussion about Buddha.

Yeah, and that last fly-by shot of the episode gets me all teary-eyed every time I watch it.
I can be such a chick!

Any fan of Sherlock Holmes is going to reference A Study in Scarlet and assume that RACHE is a multiple red herring. :-)

Re: Defying Gravity: "Pilot" & "Natural Selection" 8/2 Grading/Discuss

Where was the RACHE reference? I totally missed it!

^ There wasn't one. I was just teasing Aragorn for his apparent deductive abilities.
