Definite New Series/Limited Series with Patrick Stewart Returning

James McAvoy said in a recent interview he is ready to show up on the series as a young Picard.

Perfect for a Stargazer flashback. He wouldn't need shave his head or anything.

True, but he would need at least some fake hair since Picard still had at least some of his hair left at the time Jack Crusher was killed in 2354, and that was just one year before the Stargazer was lost at the Battle of Maxia Zeta. Other than that one touchup he'd be perfect for the role.

. It adds a level of suspense and tension to the Prime Timeline we haven't felt since the darkest days of the Dominion War

Given that we've only had about 6 hours of Prime universe (in the alpha quadrant) since the war I'm not sure that says much

Does it actually add anything new that hasn't already been said here, or it is just more clickbait repeating known facts and making other things up?

After the Star Trek 4 debacle and the recent backpeddling over the Georgiou/31 series, I won't get my hopes up for one season until they start filming.

Until then it's all just hot air to keep investors happy.

At this point they can cancel every planned CBS All Access project except for the Picard series and I don't think I'd care. Just give me the Picard series and I'll be happy.

Everything else is just a cash grab and based on the inconsistent quality of DSC that doesn't bode well for several new series being streamed all at the same or similar times. I don't really want to see the Star Trek franchise turned into another MCU.

Backpedaling? I hadn’t heard this. What’s going on with the S31 series? Has it been preemptively cancelled?

It's not backpedaling exactly.
It came out that a Section 31 show was being developed, then Kurtzman revealed that it wouldn't be produced until after Discovery's third season.
Everyone just assumed it was going right in to production concurrent with Discovery like the Picard series and the animated one are.

Ah, got it. Well, that's fine. I think most of us can live with or without it. If it comes about, great. If not, oh well.

Soundstages are expensive, dude! *puffs cigarette*

I'm sorry if I missed it, but has it been said at which studio in the LA area it is being filmed at?

Patrick Stewart tweeted a photo at Paramount saying something about getting back to work. It was very strange since many of us thought CBS and Paramount weren't exactly on friendly terms.

Paramount's facilities might be available for rent lease and are going to be simply convenient.

He could also have been doing a project for Paramount. I can't imagine that an ongoing 12-episode a season show is going to be all that taxing (relatively speaking). OTOH, we don't really know how intensive or action heavy his scenes will be, or if he's going to ever be on a starship (in which case they would probably fly him to Toronto for a few weeks)

The Production Designer for Discovery Season 1 Episodes 1 to 6, is working on the Picard show, not sure if this is news or not

http://trekcore.com/blog/2019/02/interview-star-trek-discovery-production-designer-tamara-deverell/

TREKCORE: Have you been approached to work on the upcoming Picard series?

DEVERELL: No, that’s already well underway; Todd Cherniawsky who was the supervising art director of Discovery and then took over [production design] is doing that one. I’ve seen some of the designs, it’s super exciting; a lot of the same people are working on it.

Guys, from what I'm reading, I think Picard in this show isn't going to be quite what we are expecting (from what the producers and Stewart himself said). I think he's going to be a broken down, sad old man. Similar to his character in the movie Logan. So just prepare yourselves.
