Definite New Series/Limited Series with Patrick Stewart Returning

It appears as though Sir Patrick Stewart is pricing himself out of these negotiations -- he's axed for at least a million per episode already and talks have stalled, as a result.

Discovery supposedly costs $8-9 million and episode and made money with Netflix even before CBS decided to screw everyone in the USA and make them pay extra. They can give him the damn money and stop being so cheap.

Wouldn't it depend on the budget of the new show?

Transporter room 3 guys talked about it tonight. They are both involved in the industry, and alluded to this a few weeks ago. They said last they heard, Stewart said he was interested and talks have been ongoing. But recently negotiations have stalled, because Stewart is demanding 1 Million dollars per episode. They haven't heard any new news on it, since the articles leaked this week, so they finally felt like they could talk about it.

Oh god its like Shatner/Enterprise all over again. I hope CBS cough up the dough.

That is entirely out of my hands, sir. However, even in today's economy, 1 million is still an agreeable sum, were it what's agreed upon. A very agreeable sum, indeed.

I love TNG, I think Picard's great, but ... the current STAR TREK movie cast and Discovery are what comprise of the "real" STAR TREKs. TNG's past its expiration date ... and so is Picard. Nobody knows who the frig he is, outside of Trekkies, anymore. Time to start taking a more realistic assessment of his actual worth to this franchise. They're trying to make a deal. It can't hurt his career.Take the damn million, or negotiate for better parts in other projects, instead of having it all be outright pay. But, again ... however they fold Picard into the story, I'm still hoping that we're talking about young Picard and his adventures, here.

Stewart isn't worth a million if all he's doing is telling stories by the campfire. If they bring him back, throw him into the fray, period.

He's 77. I'll pass on that idea. Picard was barely an interesting enough character 25 years ago.

Nobody knows who Patrick Stewart is! TNG actually made a bigger impact than some might think and only reason why it seems like TNG has been forgotten is because 90's nostiga is just starting to crack the surface. Mostly we are still in a 80's nostiga era but the 90's are coming back very soon! PLus like Shatner he is known by people who don't even know Trek. Not to mention he is Proffessor X.

There is a reason why they are looking at bringing back Picard and not Sisko or Janeway. He's worth the cost and TPTB know that and that's why they want him back.

And my point is if you can make a Star Trek should for a 9 million dollar budget than you can make a TNG revival for the same cost and afford Picard.

You are preaching to the choir when it comes to TNG's import and Sir Patrick Stewart's place in STAR TREK's legacy. To most audiences, however, STAR TREK is Mister Spock, Captain Kirk and tribbles. And if you're going to make a mini-series about The Life & Times of Jean-Luc Picard, maybe it should have a much broader appeal than just you and me. You know? Much of the planet hasn't seen TNG and may only be marginally aware of TOS. The new movies and Discovery are what comprise the whole of what's being advertised and promoted amongst General Audiences. That's all they know about this franchise and unless they're hooked, it's all they're really going to want to hear about it. I'd like to see STAR TREK miniseries become an extension of what this phenomenon offers. That is what I'm sold on. Not, necessarily one about Picard, or Khan, or the Academy. That's very secondary to me, as long as what's being sold to me is great entertainment. I wouldn't mind seeing an 8 parter about New Vulcan and its struggles, even ...

Sir Patrick Stewart is an actor that most people would recognise from something ... from somewhere, probably. And that celebrity is definitely worth something, as he can bring viewers. But, come on ... he's not even, I don't know ... Mark Wahlberg, or somebody like that.

I don't think it's all about "TOS" anymore especially starting with Generation X. At one point it was even more popular than "TOS." Even Casual fans I think know Picard and Data. They might not know the rest of the Berman stuff but they do know TNG. Of course for some that knowledge is limited. Kind of how Spock might have been called Doctor Spock or the guy with pointy ears I think TNG has those kind of vague memory idea's as well. Just today I told my mom about the new show and her idea of Picard is "The Bald Captain."

Mark Wahlberg?!?! He's the worst actor in the history of Hollywood! No one likes him and he gets a shit ton of money for being the worst actor in history of film.

So pay Stewart $900,000 an episode and move on, I'm sure he'll settle and everyone can save face.

There are reasons Fuller House, Girl Meets World, Roseanne / The Connors are huge hits, because the 80s are in. Hell Double Dare is coming back on Monday!

I'm curious to how old everyone here is.

Wahlberg never really topped "Boggie Nights." "Entrouge" was kind of fun for what it was. Teenage/Hollywood male fantasy show but when you biggest claim to fame is playing a porn star with a big thingie and creating Escapism fantasy about the joys of having no responsibilites in a world were your biggest problem is figuring out if your going to get to the party in time or what movie your going to make next then it does limit one's mass appeal.

I don't know about all that, now. Personally, I friggin' loved him in Planet of the Apes (2001) and anything else he's done, or does, is fine by me!

Well right there is your problem.
He single handle wrecked Lovely Bones, and he was probably the worst thing about Planet of the Ape 2001. That says a lot. :guffaw:

Mark was doing commercials with Sir Patrick not long ago ... see that? How this thread, somehow, all ties together?

That's just banana's. We don't take to kindly to this kind of monkeyshine here on the Trekbbs. It makes everyone go apeshit at the very sight of it.

The X-Men movies? I think that the popularity of comic book films would allow him to be more recognizable.
