Definite New Series/Limited Series with Patrick Stewart Returning

Even Deep Space Nine was pretty consistent with their alternate future uniforms. Matching All Good Things TNG - The Visitor DS9 - Endgame VOY.

Those are ugly though.

The Next Gen/Voyager ones looks like really bad USS Kelvin cosplay.
Ha ha ha, yea, probably knocked out quickly, and then reused between cast members. Would explain the ill-fitting. I didn't post them as an example of what it must look like. Only to show how the TNG staff pictured 20-25 years in the future - and an example of how they kept that time period consistent between shows. All "alternative" futures, so something could happen that changes everything. Romulus exploding for instance. ;)

I am quite sure he did not agree to do this series without believing it was going to be good and demanding some level of creative control.
So we can expect dune buggies then.

Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, and Moonraker.
It's worth noting that she only got #3 after a few others were considered and/or approached. (Frank was their original choice.)

True, but that's another good example of how these things work in real life. When one option falls through, you go back to your Rolodex and see who else might be available.

"What the heck, why not use Shirley again? Can't really go wrong there . . . "

Nothing sinister or nepotistic about that. Just going for a known quantity.

I'm minded of Christopher L. Bennett's Lost Era novel The Buried Age, which covered the period between the loss of the Stargazer and the commissioning of the Enterprise-D. That novel delved further into Picard's interest in xenoarchaeology, as noted in the TNG episode The Chase.

For my part, I think it would be interesting to see this new series delve further into that aspect of Jean-Luc Picard's life, rather than simply keeping him in a Starfleet uniform. And if there were any ideas from TBA which could be mined for use here, all the better.

Maybe Ambassador Picard can randomly take command of the latest Enterprise, giving himself a captain's rank, and forcing the current captain to be demoted to commander for no reason.

And that captain is Riker who would've become Picard's 'Number One' once again :guffaw::guffaw::hugegrin::hugegrin:

Seems like the one TNG-era storyline this show would need to, ahem, engage with would be the Picard/Crusher arc. Follow-ups to that story were created for First Contact and Nemesis, but omitted during rewrites for the former and filmed but axed for the latter. Riker and Troi can be off on the Titan, Worf can be among the Klingons, Geordi can be a captain--but I can't fathom an incisive and meaningful character study of Picard that doesn't address his relationship with Crusher.

I would love to see these two characters play against each other on screen, especially given the more lively way McFadden, in her small screentime during the films, played/was allowed to play her role. I just wouldn't want to see a story that played out a will-they-or-won't they arc after 20 freaking years. Jump us right into a different chapter in Picard's life. Have these two characters be in some kind of stasis, whether that's a relationship or not, and drive us forward from that point.

Agreed. I'm just a bit worried that so far no one from the old creative casts from TNG and the movies have been given a role in the new series. They're probably the one with the best knowledge on how the Picard/Crusher (or Riker/Troi) relationship would've looked like and how it would've evolved twenty years since the last time we saw them on screen.

However, it's still very early in the development stage now so I'm reserving judgement until more info about the new series trickles in...

LOL Picard/Crusher arc... It was never an arc. It was just something thrown in and brought up very few times. It should long be forgotten, cos it was terrible. Bring back Pulaski and we'll see some real sparks fly!

Agree on the comm badges. Design a new and better constructed uniform, but those future comm badges have long been a favorite of mine.

Is Mulder still in showbiz? I'd love to see her come back if she's still acting.

Mulder is with Scully, Muldaur has left showbiz in 1993 and she hasn't got very fond memories of working with most of the cast on TNG. They apparently were quite mean to her on set.

That's been my thought/hope, a sort of The Buried Age, Old Picard Edition. You get a ship, but either a civilian one or a smaller Starfleet ship. Picard is along for the ride, but doesn't have to be in charge. If it's civilian, maybe he's dabbling with command but it's a more nominal thing. Allows 'real' Starfleet to pop in when the story needs, but gives you a smaller crew to deal with the rest of the time. Can draw out this archeology/chasing a mystery aspect as they move around, would lend itself well to a series IMO

Picard had "advanced irumodic sydnrome" in Q's future in All Good Things. Since the Picard series is said to take place in that time frame, Picard might be dealing with Space Dementia or something. Might be an interesting spin on things.... of course it may have all been Q's doing in the first place (like the anti-time anomaly).
